  • It means made me chuckle. Granddad.

  • Mmmmdaaaaa!

    Werthers Original?

  • It’s preposterous to claim Trotskyites have taken over the Labour party, insists self-identified Trotskyite Steve Score as he wanders around Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership campaign rally in Derby selling copies of the The Socialist newspaper and asking people to vote for the Labour leader in this summer’s leadership contest.

Inb4 Greenhell calling the author a cunt

  • Significant, though sadly possibly still not enough for Smith to win.

  • Well, he's lost my vote, flirting with tory scum. We need a principled leader who sticks to his beliefs.

"This week at a hustings event, Mr Corbyn insisted that he could reach out beyond his core supporters and win over "some people that have been tempted to vote Tory"."

  • Do you mean Smith/Khan has lost your vote?

Ha, no. I mean Corbyn's quote about winning over tory voters is in direct contradiction with the main argument of many Corbyn supporters, i.e that Corbyn's strength is that he does not pander to the centre ground, but sticks resolutely to his principles. I agree with his point that Labour needs to win back Tory voters. I don't think Momentum etc agree though. I don't really think he does either.

  • "Khan, who backs Owen Smith, won mayoralty by standing on platform with Corbyn"

This is amazing. Khan adroitly declined to share a platform with Corbyn duting his Mayoral campaign. Two public appearances were cancelled. This is partly why he won, standing as his own man, distanced from the chaos in the party. He was also helped alot by Goldsmith's racism.

  • If he wins over tory scum by resolutely sticking to his principles then he's in contradiction with no one.

  • Livingstone distanced himself from Blair - indeed Blair said Livingstone would be a 'disaster' as mayor. They both went on to be quite successful. Who wins as London Mayor isn't much of a guide to who will win in national elections.

  • He was also helped alot by Goldsmith's racism.

This. I personally would never have voted for a tory in any case, but there was a dearth of people around that thought that there was really a need for another millionaire (billionaire?) to be gifted power, especially one who was just so nasty.

Khan seems like a good man, but the tories really messed their candidate choice up and gave him an easy ride. In any case, saying that he was in because of Corbyn is, I think, revisionism (of which there seems to be a lot around at the minute).

  • but there was a dearth of people around that thought that there was really a need for another millionaire (billionaire?) to be gifted power, especially one who was just so nasty.

I wouldn't describe just short of a million votes as a dearth.

  • Everyone (especially those who say that the only way Labour will win is without Corbyn) is ignoring the giant fucking white elephant int he room. As things stand, Labour can't win with Corbyn, Corbyn-lite, or the second coming of Jesus Blair. I hope this delusion is only a symptom of there leadership campaign, but it's being repeated quite a lot.

  • I'm really disappointed we got Smith not Eagle. She seems to me a much stronger character, more leadership material, as well as being not just another man. Sadiq's endorsement is a boost, but I think Smith will fail to exite voters, Corbyn will stay, and the party will split.

I'd have Kahn for leader like a shot...

  • I'd have Kahn for leader like a shot

I wouldn't. He was on the radio before the weekend being asked who he endorsed for leader. He dodged the question over and over again like a typical politician cunt. It was embarrassing.

  • He dodged the question over and over again like a typical politician cunt. It was embarrassing.

He clearly didn't know at that point what he wanted to do, or what he thought was the right decision for the party. It would have been much worse to endorse one then change his mind. It must have been a very hard decision for him, as endorsing either candidate will burn alot of bridges for him in the party and lose him support among some sections of Londoners. Kahn is the first politician I've not felt embarrassed by in a long time.

  • Maybe one day you'll even learn to spell his name.

  • Kahn

Is there any chance you could stop mis-spelling his name? :)

  • If he hadn't decided, why not be honest and say 'I haven't decided'. why not tell the truth?

  • Angela Eagle at her finest, most leaderly

  • and @WillMelling Apologies thanks for pointing that out

  • Yeah, she really should have just said "There are few policy differences between us", that would have been fine.
