  • Joe's back for a few days, so people are heading to the - surprise - reej.

  • Well this is awkward, erm, send him my best will you?

I'll go and look at myself in a mirror for a bit.

  • Well there were re-entryists. And they were saying things like "i've come back because of JC"

There were an equal number of people from disadvantaged backgrounds who were saying either:
"we need jeremy " vs "being in power affects the change we need"

I'm currently leaning towards "i want to be in power to make a change but i don't believe that shower of shits will actually stick to the policy their aping from JC. But I don't believe anyone will work with JC to get the same policies through, and I don't think he really cares about being in power"

  • putting your head above the parapet and arguing passionately for what you believe in

I didn't follow it that closely, but I think Owen came to prominence mainly because he stood firm in very acrimonious debates on TV and arguably won a lot of points. It was slightly similar, although in a very different way, to how Russell Brand comported himself in the face of very hostile TV people, which made him very prominent for a while until he made the cardinal mistake of that Miliband interview. If Owen was just another meek commentator who folded under pressure, he probably wouldn't be getting quite as much rubbish. I don't always agree with him, but I thought the article blankspace linked to a little further up was good.

  • So no signs of entryist Trots purposefully trying to create an atmosphere of animosity?

    Well, Damo was there.

  • ^ No Murdoch affiliated, sharp suited Blairites either? Sounds dull.

  • Not that is really matters, but I was making a reference to Watson's "dossier" providing evidence that Labour has been infiltrated by Militant/Socialists/"Trots", and his claim that they're using tactics (specifically being disruptive and antagonistic) to take control of meetings. I don't think a similar claim has been made against the other side.

Mr Watson claimed Left-wing activists are circulating a manual for how to take over the party that includes being “adversarial” towards moderates in an attempt to stop them turning up.

  • unison choo choo chooses corbyn.

  • Any Corbyn supporters moaning about the absence of a ballot of the membership?

  • AWL response to Watson's claims: https://shirazsocialist.wordpress.com/2016/08/11/awl-statement-oppose-watsons-witch-hunt/

I think it's kind of interesting insight into the same old leftwing bitching and in-fighting. It's sort of fun, in a way. But one of the key, but not entirely surprising, points is this:

And do you know how big we are? We have 120 full AWL members. Tom Watson knows very well that we are a small group among half a million Labour members. This is the extent of the Trotskyist threat.

  • decision made based on a consultation of whether the labour link committee should make the call or not - not sure what that means.

  • top arsehole.

You have to go back to the early 1970s, when Sir John Donaldson presided over the National Industrial Relations Court, to find the last time a judge was criticised by the Labour party for his supposed political views.

in what way is this antisemite cunt representative of 'the labour party'?

  • Now I'm not certain of this but I think it's this guy.
    http://www.labour.org.uk/people/detail/chris-jones

  • If that is indeed the question you are asking

  • That was indeed the impression I had.

  • in what way is he spouting labour policy? his shitty opinions are demonstrably nothing but his own. the author of that post makes a spurious connection between this jones tit and the labour party at large.

  • I don't agree with everything that QC guy wrote. But it's the same kind of childish paranoid anti-Zionist crap that a whole bunch of Jewish party members found upsetting but Lady Chakrabarti said wasn't a problem. Hence the sigh.

  • I love the way that he sounds almost exactly like the blue anteater in the Pink Panther.

  • ps. thanks for your £25 lol, the legal fees to stop you lot from voting were eye watering!

  • I expect that this appeal decision will itself be challenged. Is the next stop the Supreme Court now? It used to be the Lords. I don't know very much about how this works, and the only previous case I followed that went through all the stages was the Critical Mass case.

  • The House of Lords qua highest court in the land became the Supreme Court as part of a Labour push to make justice more accessible. Same package of changes that changed 'writs' to 'claim forms' and other such stuff.

The Supreme Court, IIRC, decides whether it will consider an appeal, and it generally only do so when it's a matter of particular importance.

Edit to add - the first appellate court can give leave to appeal to the Supreme Court too, actually.

  • A guy I know has just made this.

I feel like it would make a good t-shirt.
