  • Yeah seems pretty logical. Got the stem pretty cheap from Holland via Ebay.

  • Are the callipers 105 or did you go for Tiagra long reach ones?

  • I ordered 105 but sadly they didn't fit. I had to use the tiagra long reach ones.
they seem to be nice and smooth now i have the cables fitted.

  • cables and bar tape fitted. went for a fizik leather(ish) bar tape.

  • With that clearance I'd go for at least 28c tyres, maybe even bigger.

  • Yup, 28 or 32mm

  • Looking awesome. Agree on the tyres.. any more full bike pics?

  • Looks hella awesome. I love these new components-old frame setups. :) Great job!

  • I'm going to look for some wider gum walls after the London to Brighton. I figured that I'd rather stick with gatorskins for the added protection.

  • Cheers chap. I haven't seen it done much so I figured it'd be a good shout.
Looks mega cool in my opinion. Was a lot of work but well worth it.

  • So she's done. I have taken it for a little spin. All seems ok. Rear mech needs a bit of an adjustment but other than that it's a lovely ride. Really responsive. Handles brilliantly. I am going to take some proper photos at some point this weekend.

  • Can see the project from start to finish aswell as my other custom build here. http://www.bensbikebits.com/project-gallery-page/

  • Nice job. See you up Ditchling!

  • Good job! How have you sorted FD cable adjustment?

  • erm.......
there is none. It was trial and error with the cable till I got the tension right.
If i get a little bit of rub I can deal with that. If it becomes an issue ill think of a way to sort it.
@PhilPub you sure will. The 11-25 is being swapped tomorrow for an 11-28 just to make it a bit easier.

  • Sounds like a good idea. I reckon I'll be OK on 34/25, and certainly thankful it's not 1980-something, when I struggled up Ditchling a few times on the old-school 6-speed lowest gear 42/23. "On yer right!... puff...pant..." Oof!

  • yeah itll be hard work. Its not a compact chainset so itl be 36-25. 42-23.....F that!!!!!
I might leave it as 25 for the challenge.

  • there is none. It was trial and error with the cable till I got the tension right.

    WIthout compressing the housing?

    11-25 is fine for Ditchling.

  • I me I'll have to use the inline barrel adjusters If it proves to be a problem. It'll have to wait until after Sunday but I think it's the best thing for it.

  • Yeah I used the front mech. I held it in the position for the big ring then attached the cable. As I let go the mech drop down to the small ring by compressing the housing just the right amount. Works wonders on front and rear mechs.
