  • Is anyone interested in my Mr Pink frameset? I'll get some new photos this afternoon, here are a mix of older ones for now. For sale is the custom painted 52cm frame (which fits more like a 54), matching Whisky forks and Cane Creek 40 headset. I could include the excellent TRP brakes and extremely average Shimano RS rear wheel as well if needed.
    DM me if interested!

  • You're one of those people who builds nice bikes in my size who's posts I should really avoid around payday. Glws!

  • Haha, it is such a good frame! Going to be sad to see the back of it, it just doesn't really suit my needs any more.

  • Hows this going???

  • Would anyone be interested in buying my Big Block 58cm in Lilac? Need to swap a couple of things over but has both SS and fixed cogs depending on preference. Was thinking in the range of £500 perhaps.

  • Terribly! I've been waiting for parts pretty much since I posted that photo. I'm away this week and hoping everything has turned up by the time I get home. I'm down to 0 functioning bikes at the moment, my girlfriend's tiny Charge Hob has become my commuter.

  • @TomAndJerry bought my Mr Pink and has done a much quicker job of building it up though! Do you have any photos to share?

  • Wow, @ltc thanks for linking me to this, there are some beautiful bikes in this thread.

Here's a photo of the Mr Pink, I still have some tinkering to do but its ride-able and I love it. Its my first steel bike and now I see what all the fuss is about.

I am hoping to get winter ready with some bigger tyres & mudguards at some point.

  • I'm really glad you're enjoying it! It brought me a lot of joy and it was a really hard decision to sell it. The build's looking good, could do with some sleeker bottle cages if I'm being picky.
I enjoyed it most with fatter tyres, it's not noticeably slower but much more comfortable, especially if you're in the saddle all day.
I'm going to see if the mudguards that came off this will fit my Zig Zag, if not I'll let you know and you're welcome to them, they're already cut to the exact right size (which was a load of faff) so would save you a job!

  • Yeah new bottle cages are on my tinkering list, I want some traditional looking metal ones to go with the steel styling. I have some mudguards for my old frame but having a look at them I think they will only take a 28mm tyre so let me know how it goes with the ZigZag.
Looking forward to seeing the ZigZag build.

  • Bought this a while ago as I've always wanted one and the price wasn't too bad.

Overall I love how it it looks, it's got a very good stance and the proportions look just right.

It rides okay too, however it seems to roll a bit worse than my transition rapture did with exactly the same parts...its kind of like the drivetrain is thicker, like it's stuck in mud or thick grease. Which is very odd as everything felt fine when I took it off the rapture. It could be the tyre tho tbf, I swapped them out for gravel kings as they had a few too many holes in.

Oh and the frame is 400grams heavier than the transition which is only double butted 4130 tubing...so there's some food for thought.

  • Oooft, it's a looker though!

  • Not all 853 is born equal

    Needs fatter tyres

  • Needs fatter tyres

It really does and if set up tubeless should feel a lot different..

  • I had a Macho Man, the heavier All City which I guess shares the same geometry as this?

I know exactly the feeling that you're describing. I think the geometry of these frames is really focused for off road riding, zig zagging between trees and along trails. My bike just did not like moving forward on the road.

  • Less zig-zagging and more twig-snapping. It happily plows through most things, but tarmac is not one of those things.

  • @MrBaklava @monkdagola

I guess I'm just going to have to ride more off-road then. Which I guess isn't a bad thing!

Glad its a trait of the bike and not the fact I have become slow!

  • Unless I have also become snail-esque in pace.

    /not unlikely

But yes, get off road and point in down, just remember it's not an MTB.

  • Excuse the crap phone photo. The Zig Zag is nearly done. Just need to sort the gears out (read as: take to work and have one of the mechanics sort the gears out), wrap the bars, add mudguards and then figure out how I've set the brakes up so badly that they feel worse than rim brakes.

  • I really really like that. Bit mor road focused with room for fatties for getting silly from time to time than my macho king.

  • Thanks, I'm really happy with how it's turning out! Your Macho King looks great as well. If I had more space/money I'd love something similar myself. As it is, nearly all of my riding is commuting or road rides so wanted something that was more road specific. I reckon I could fit 35c nobblies in there if I fancied messing about on some bridleways though!

  • Bit of a heads up to the vertically challenged All City fans among us, next weekend (after I've given it a good cleaning) I'll be doing a classifieds for a 49cm Mr Pink.
Included will be frame n forks (steel forks), Cane Creek 40 headset (black), SKS Bluemel mudguards (stays trimmed to fit), and a choice of brake calipers (if required, at an additional cost), either Tektro R539s in silver or, TRP rg957s in black.

  • It looks great, I love the paint job. Have you ridden it much yet? Any early thoughts on how it rides compared to the MrPink?
(sounds like rim brakes aren't dead yet)

  • Not ridden it as much as I'd like yet! Only done about 30 commuting miles or something like that. It rides great though, very similar geometry to the Mr Pink, which is perfect for me. The wheels are nicer than the ones I had previously which I think is responsible for the fact that it feels a lot faster and quicker to accelerate. Really enjoying it so far, can't wait to get out and get some miles in!
