After a nice long backpacking trip in SE Asia with my better half, returning home to tinker in my workshop and ride proper bikes again is fucking awesome.
Chiang Mai, Thailand
Before we left, the Van Tuyl was hung on the wall due to the threads on the fork steerer being stripped. The headset would get scary loose after a short ride, and after closer inspection, it looks pretty fucked.
Left side almost seems to have double the threads! Must have been installed crooked :/
Had to sort something out before a camping trip the weekend after returning home.
Luckily a good friend had a spare touring fork layin around. Only problem was its 15mm longer than other fork, and more rake.. Set it up anyways, and it handled a bit weird (kinda floppy?), but its fine as a temporary solution.
Im hoping to find someone who can repair the old fork... Or maybe it'll get a surly cross check 1" fork.
Next up is a Velo Orange (small) i snagged on USA craigslist for $220 :O. Got it brought over to Denmark last winter. Being rather enthused, it was hard not to spill the beans until now. GF is just as enthused! Win.
It takes 26x 2.75. Previous owner squeezed a 27.5 x 2.3 in there! Designed for 26x2.4, which is roughly 27.5x2.0 in outer diameter.

Silver parts has always been something ive liked the thought of, but always ended up shying away from when it came to it.
This time is different. I like how this turned out.
Wheels swapped from shimano r501 to TUNE on grey open pro at rear, and some random front that sorta matched. Both with black hubs and silver (32) spokes
Stem swapped for a control tech (looking for a matchey post)
Cranks swapped to some cheap bontrager silver things
Bars swapped to KCNC 710mm
New avid levers
Lock on foam grips
now pics
For the photo nerds, i picked up a Canon 135mm f2 in Vietnam for cheaps. Great lens for shooting bikes. Right now im using it on a 550d (crop sensor), but iv got a 5D classic comin in the mail which should play well with that lens :)

-hopeBars are still unkown. Pondering the On-One Fleegle. Something wide with a 25.4 clamp and some sweep, and others to consider?..
Front rack and lowriders is the dream. Something like Rawland Demiporteur and Tubus tara.
