    Hi all,

I initially bought this bike in France for @Amey as he wanted some Mafac Racer brakes.

Since I stripped the bike, it was a good (rat) base for singlespeed conversion.

The frames is handmade with Reynolds 531 tubing, 54cm square so good for someone around 5ft8.
It was originally a deep pink colour but it has faded over time as it was left in the sun. There are darker patches where shop stickers / gear parts were fitted. Loads of paint scrapes and light rust but no dents!

I fitted a CLB front brake with new Jagwire pads, new Planet X black bar tape, new single chainring bolts and a new SRAM PC-1 chain. Also fitted a Condor crosstop lever with pink Jagwire outer brake cable.

Wheels are 700c clinchers - the rear wheel has a coaster brake which works very well. I have fitted brand new 700c x 38mm clincher gumwall tyres.

All in, a good pub beater / rat bike.

Both stem and seatpost move freely. The bottom bracket has no play.

    Yours for £175 -> £160 -> £150 -> SOLD SOLD SOLD FOR £120

Test rides / Pick up from Stoke Newington.

  • Deserves a fresh new pink re-spray. GLWS

  • It would benefit from a respray / powdercoating, however this would be about 1/2 of the price of the bike so not sure it is worth it...

  • Here are more photos:

  • Easter Monday price drop to £160.

I won't drop further as summer is upon us and it is a great bike...

  • Sale now includes a frame fit pump!

  • sweet!

  • Very nice, Vince. Someone is going to love that. And argh those Stronglight cranks!

The paint would become bolder after a thorough session with cut & polish / T-cut, as the upper layers will have faded the most.

How did you get 38c tyres to fit? Is the frame originally for 27" wheels?

  • Glad you like it @Brazelephantman & @Ndeipi !

The new owner can T-Cut to their heart's content ;-)

The frame is made for 700c wheels with mudguards so it would probably have run 700x28mm tyres in the past.

The rims I fitted are wider so the 700x38mm tyres don't balloon as much.
This is the maximum tyre width the frame will accommodate.

  • Will show this to my girlfriend who is on the look for a rat/work bike. Viewings this week?

  • @smashley - You can view whenever works best for you.

I am in Stoke Newington but happy to bring the bike into town...

  • Price drop to £150

I can bring into town or meet at a train station if this helps a sale

  • Can't believe this hasn't sold yet.

  • I (still) think the price is fair.

I have a set of risers if the potential buyer prefers an upright position...

  • SOLD SOLD SOLD

Risers were fitted and the bike has been sold for £120
