  • I had to google that.

    "Checkpoint Charlie"

    What a crazy frame.

  • Dirt ingress system? As in, a way for dirt to get inside the frame? Why would that exist?

  • It's a little hole so you can see through the frame and check the seatpost has gone in enough. Looks like there is a clear sticker over it, but as soon as that falls off, its an ingress system.

  • Mine has tape over it.
It will work soon, I hope.
    Sigh.

  • Maybe the dirt works as extra grip for the seatpost.

  • Drill a hole through the seatpost, hammer a nail through the frame into aforementioned hole, and your slipping seatpost problems go away.

  • I normally charge big money for these kinds of engineering assessments & solutions, but given the direness of the situation, you can have it for free.

  • Much thanks to the excellent Soho Bikes for solving the minor crisis.
And the Talbot is slowly taking shape again....

  • It looks like they forgot to level the handlebars.

  • They're ergoterra bars- they have quite a short drops section:

  • Yeah! Proper cranks! Different tyres too, right? I'm not a tyre-geek – are they just slicks, but masesive?

  • Can we get @Dammit to comment on the excellent Soho bikes?

  • I've never seen those before. Weird. Bike looks awesome by the way. Although road pedals look a little out of place.

  • I can't find my atac horde... Maybe will try out crank brothers, but for now- they work and are here.

  • Does the 3T feel much slower than a normal road bike with those tyres when you ride it on the road?

  • Sweet ride!

What was the seatpost issue in the end?

  • My (limited) experience with 38c filetooth gravel kings in 650b was, not a lot. Obviously not as quick as 23c on a perfect road, but for general riding, it makes everything much more comfortable which can help a lot.

Also, channeling scobble, a lot of the feel of 'fast' tires is actually just high pressure vibrations, and that is the main difference you notice

Bike looks great - glad it's gone hydro :)
What are the carbon 700c wheels/rims?

  • @7ven a little slower, worth it. I suspect it's rolling weight> resistance
@branwen Chinese carbon from the usual suspects....

  • I actually built a bike a long time back. Finally got round to painting it... thanks to @coldharbour.
    Pretty excited for this cruiser.
