It's kickstarter, I've set my expectations at Easter. Any sooner is a win.

Kickstarter is full of surprises, from his long things take to little bonuses you don't expect. I backed a bell a few years back, took ages to arrive then a year later they sent a new one out because they had replaced a plastic part with a metal one.

Happy with them after using for a week? Are they as convenient to put in and out as they show in the video?

Yep, they're OK.
But you have to make sure they are in a mild steel socket, not a stainless steel one. If stainless you can pull them out with anything ferrous.

What's the science behind that?

Isn't that why they're selling those magnetic sheets that you stick to the bottom of your bolts?

The magnet in the hexlox needs a ferrous metal to attach to. Stainless steel is only mildly magnetic so the pull isn't strong enough. It didn't fall out after 10 miles or so off-road but it still comes out with a ferrous tool easily as you can see
