Regular Deore are pretty good.

best are shimano xtr or avid ultimate IMO
deore xt and lower level avids are almost as good
avoid anything not by shimano/avid -

I mean, if you're throwing money about, I bet Pauls are good at stopping.

What @platypus and @MisterMikkel said. Avid or Shimano, and I would look for ones where the pads are replaceable.
But tbh, even my cheapest tektro ones that are flimsy and have solid brake pads are ok. Anything is an upgrade compared to cantis. New cables can improve the brakes massively as well.

At that price they should have over-the-handlebar stopping power just by looking at them. If they don’t have that then nah 😉

if you're throwing money about
avid ultimate black ops levers.
always wanted to try some. -

Can’t say I’ve ever had a problem stopping a bike with cantis, MTB and loaded touring.

Also, I have a Pauls Motolite/Love levers set up with ceramic rims/pads on an SS and they feel great, but not a lot better than an XT V set up. They are hella better looking though, so there’s that.

My CAAD4. Going ro be riding this for a while, riding fixed and clipless wasn't helping my broken foot heal. Looking for suggestions for mudguards! Would also like bars with a bit more sweep.

Plump looking tires! How big are those and what brake calipers are you running?
-
• #891
Allegedly 28c but they seem loads bigger than the 25s I have on my Donohue. I couldn't tell you what the brakes are off the top of my head, they came with the bike. Low end Shimano of some sort at a guess!

This won't help your foot either, so I'll take it off your hands.
-

That's very kind of you. Now I just need to find a way to not have to ride a cargo bike for 40 hours a week and I'll be well on the way to recovery!

What trigger shifts are people using? Want to flatbar a Cinelli Experience I'm getting cheap. What's the best route? Not to worried about aesthetics. Cheap and reliable. Will be work bike so will be getting thrashed.
Put V brakes on it if you love your child :)
