Nice explanation of 'Free Movement of People' in the EU
https://twitter.com/jerryhogg/status/876773422042423298
So it sounds to me like we've already got what the Brexshitters want, we just need to spend the money on tracking people in and out of the country which were going to have to do once we leave anyway.

Theresa May ruled the HO when ID cards were rejected and didn't come up with an alternative either. Incompetence has high costs it seems :)

Bit more detail on why applying for permanent residence/pensions for UK people in the EU are no trivial matters.

Freedom of movement to end. Well, no Single Market or Norway Agreement or Swiss agreement then.
So long and thanks for all the fish: Get out while/if you can or get an Irish passport if you can.

^ Unfortunately this omnishambles also affect UK people abroad, hopefully whatever happens the EU does the decent thing. But pensions abroad may not follow the triple lock anymore in future...if it really goes wrong.

Still dunno why Labour doesn't just stay in, but hey, at least this is good. Strange that the anti immigration talk doesn't seem to have worked into translating votes for Labour...according to this writer.
Labour and can the whole Leave and keep everything as in, epic win.
Labour and Single Market, lose euro clearings, not so winCome on Labour pls....! :)

Labour traditionally sticks up for workers rights, and that includes protecting jobs from outside competition, i.e. immigrants.
-
• #8865
I think a lot of people who voted remain and Labour will have done so because Labour is about helping everyone in society, and you can't do that if you tank the economy with a hard brexit.

idk. Most people are pretty woefully uninformed and lack any logic when voting. I'd say when you couple that with the myriad of personal reasons people have it's hard to call any correlation.
imo voting for a party that doesn't represent your interests and/or a large number of your core beliefs sounds perfectly normal.
Just to add to that;
Many voters (not just in the UK but worldwide) are blissfully uninformed by what candidates and parties stand for.
I listened to a piece where a group of people were surveyed about various policies and a large number of people tended to ascribe policies that they hear to the party that matches in their mind. So people liked TM's energy cap, but assumed it was a Labour policy, which then made people more inclined to vote Labour... as a result of a Tory policy proposal.

And they thereby fall in the fact free zone of "we must Brexit to protect UK workers from competition with under 5% unemployment, jobs people simply won't do and all that". Frustrating as other Labour plans such as improving skills and wages could mitigate the need for skill immigration.
Of course I'm not a proper worker, cos I don't hold a British Passport. eyeroll

Also, this court case has finally started:
Clearly, offering to reward people for killing someone is perfectly OK as long as it's done 'in private'.

Looks like some deal with be reached on EU nationals rights with nhs included...but only if you have been here 5 years. Which is a bit crappy, because some people moved in before the Brexit referendum results but don't get to 5 years. And it's dependent on the EU granting rights to UK citizens in the EU, which they said they would do, but the devil is in the detail with such things.
Still leaves a lot of questions. Pensions for UK people abroad? Moving your pension? All EU law.

On the plus size, means UK nationals jumping ship now have hope of gaining status in the EU.
-
• #8875
On the plus size
Fattist.
I'm sure the retards probably thought it would be an over-night thing. But most Brexshitters I've heard thought we would have an interim period of 5-10yrs with mirrored regs.
