Nobody seems to have actually confirmed that this is true, though.
Maybe if they keep drilling for long enough they'll find something, but it's hardly a 'highly prospective' region.

Well, from the Maltese perspective I imagine they're happy for Italy to keep drilling holes as long as they also keep the helicopters up.

Fun times eh? Maybe some finance goes to ROI so at least there may be a silver lining for half your family :)

The 3 million is pressuring for rights, many UK people on the Facebook group are apologetic.
I think we have morons everywhere (hi wilders in NL) but I do fear about the damage this can do to the UK, economically and socially (more Tory gov, brexit an excuse to do whatever) and all issues in NI / Gibraltar / Scotland...
All this shit caused by people who should know better, it's not that people in power weren't warned.

On commute home yesterday on northern line had some stereotypical neck-tattooed millwall fan type sprawled across 3 seats holding court with his mate sprawled across 3 seats opposite using his outside voice to express his disbelief that we have to pay the EU 360mil a week for nothing and how unfair it is and how we're going to use that money for real british people instead and how 360 million is an unfathomable amount of money to be changing hands in just a week and how he can't comprehend it compared to how long it would take him to earn it.
his comments were prompted it appeared by the tfl cleaner who got off the tube as I got on who in his opinion was 'another foreigner taking british jobs' which confused me greatly considering the "foreigner" in question had said 'cheers mate' in a thick native london accent as I stepped aside for him to get off the train before I boarded.

So I'm on quite a few forums and UK citizens in the EU also get shit from some Brexiters.
Even though bad conditions for them mean they may not be able to afford staying there (health insurance, pensions not going up.with inflation anymore...)
Bah.

I don't really know if that's possible (I'm absolutely no expert, but I believe you can clear any ccy in any country?), but it certainly seems like a statement of intent.
And it's not exactly a massive surprise is it.
I'm one of those jobs that supports 'the finance'. Despite the massive faff and inconvenience it would cause, I'm kind of hoping that a job move manifests as a viable way to get out of the country.

I recall a friend - who works in one of those places - talking about this shortly after the vote. I'm guessing most banks have been thinking about this for a while. If it's a legal requirement (to be based in the EU) for carrying out your business then it's a no-brainer really.
