If NI had a voice then we'd not have left the EU, what Brexit proved is that the province will do whatever Westminster wants, no matter the opinion of the citizenry.

Hi guys, does anyone know a good, well written article/study or perhaps even several articles/studies which outline the tangible or even non tangible upsides of Brexit? Genuine question. Thanks.

• #31135
Ah yes, I believe that covers all the main points. Well written and, evidently, very convincing. Thank you.

Richard Tuck's stuff early on was (still is) an attempt to develop a philosophically coherent argument for Brexit on the left. I read the early stuff and it was interesting, well thought out, but didn't convince me (from memory it was one part an argument about sovereignty from a Hobbesian perspective, and one part an engagement with the problem of a neo-liberal super organisation). The issues raised are legitimate, but also a "treatment worse than the sickness" situation.
He released a new book earlier this year which I should read but haven't: https://www.wiley.com/en-gb/The+Left+Case+for+Brexit:+Reflections+on+the+Current+Crisis-p-9781509542277

From what you say it feels like those arguments fall into the "intangible" category.
I read the "pros" of Brexit lists and, as we know, its all outweighed by the Pros of EU membership.
So, as expected, its not even a close run thing. Perfect.

UK’s Brexit losses more than 178 times bigger than trade deal gains

Well if you want a truly socialist UK you need to leave the EU and the single market due to competition and unions rules.
Funny enough the NI socialists (who I do respect and agree with on many issues) are very very quiet about supporting Brexit lately.

I believe but need to check the citizen rights agreement and NI protocol are separated from trade agreement.
So the shitshow will probably mostly come down on GB...but really hope it won't go that way.
Either with tariffs against luxury goods that hurt well off Tory voters or a very slow legal action.
Food / utilities trade war tactics with all the poverty and price hikes, no thanks. It will also be hugely counterproductive for the EU so I guess they won't go that way?

^ good point.
Also, why the fuck would the US (or anyone) post official, and provocative, shit like that on twitter? As a reply to a magazine account? Imagine if we had twitter during the Cuban Missile crisis.
