You want an unskilled worker back?

The last thing both Australia and NZ need is a brain drain on such a scale.
Did the tories honestly think a freedom of movement deal could be part of a FTA?!? They’ll get a worse deal than the EU packages up in a way for them to not lose face, again.

I'm not sold on the face swap but I'm posting it anyway.

Too right. We don't want those lazy, benefit scrounging Brits coming over here taking our jobs. And our benefits.

It’s “are” benefits.

🤣
UK rejects fom with EU countries, cos of "unskilled labour" (nonsense term btw means low wage in reality)
Find two can play that game.
I think Australia ministers tweeted about this well before this year. Almost as if project fear is project I told you so ;)

Given the tories’ rhetoric about migration I am surprised they wanted or offered full FoM in a trade deal with Aus? It’s not clear whether the article is talking about the right to settle in the other country or just visit, though.
-
• #28813
It would be a drain on the UK side only. No one I know back home in NZ want to come to Plague Island.
-
• #28814
Assuming consistency is perhaps asking too much: They will rebrand FOM as "visa free" and the people that don't like being part of the EU, but like being linked to the ex colonies will not ask further questions.

What colour (is it thought by the Brexists) are Australians? There's a clue in this photo:
Hence all the CANZUK bollocks from Hannan etc, white English speaking migration isn't a problem, it's Polish speaking or BAME that they hate.

Nearly a week in, and our border is still open.
Isn’t the point of Brexit is to control our border, which we refuse it for the last several years while being in the EU?
-
• #28817
Hmmm... Transparent use of 'unskilled worker' euphemism? (disclaimer - I have no knowledge of aussie politics? So I may be tainted by years of looking at tory policy in UK news + using Tony Abbott as benchmark)

Ni secretary of state denies Irish sea border is a thing, taking a leaf from the book of Gove I guess.
🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Many teething issues (of course as guidance was super late) with Irish sea border...

To quote that particular Tory lying fucktard
"The [Brexit trade] deal came quite late in the day - for example, the guidance on parcels was published on 31 December," he said.
I don't think 'quite late' really does justice to publishing the guidance the day before the rules changed. I'd agree with 'super late' though.

It is all marketing:
British White working class: It's the Polish
Non white working class: Points system means your birth country people can come in easier (which is fair! the HO is running the visa system like a cash cow, NHS health surcharge...the lot...) so of course that was part bollox as it's not really gotten much easier
I am not racist but: Controlled immigration
Gammonry: Let us ditch the EU and rejoin the commonwealth who we dumped some time ago PSSST the white commonwealth... of course!Of course all completely contradictory...

your birth country

crispin odeys fund loses 30% last year and has returned negative numbers for 5 of the last 6 years

Should have been clearer: Leave really marketed to for example people from Pakistan originally or with parents that are non UK born for example around curry houses.
And EU nationals mentioned naturalized non EU nationals sometimes voted for brexit as they didn't want EU nationals in but ones from their birth country.
They really did pit groups against another.
It was a marketing campaign unfortunately, stop EU immigrants let non EU in easier ( again... fair enough )
From what I read though leave was less popular though among non white voters as a whole.

Isn’t it a thing where successful immigrants are then anti-immigration - ‘shutting the door behind you’

I sold on ebay a car exhaust (backboxes) to a chap in NI.
What are the chances of the large parcels being stuck or returned to me in London?
SMS update just now on an Amazon order… nothing I noticed on the order to indicate it would be coming from outside Plague Island, but here we are.
