It does feel like something of a kick in the teeth, I must say...

So he lives in France? Looks you need residency and an income to naturalize. Like a low grade UK based furrin like me then.
Strange man, supported remain. Then leave cos he didn't like Juncker in 2017 then made a remark "the Irish can shoot each other" in 2018. Ok lovely.
It's like wtf are your principles...

Stanley Johnson was a Tory MEP.
He will have accrued an EU Parliament pension. I presume this will be a sufficient French income. -

I think Powell may have an agenda here! Any talk of strategy from someone deeply involved in the planning of the invasion of Iraq seems questionable.
Larry Elliot at the Guardian seems to be ploughing a lonely furrow..

Fucks sake another of those "I can do without my nice MEP income cos I'm already well off so let's Brexit" types then.
Ugh.
He will also need to live in France (most of the time?) though I don't think you can avoid that.

Elliott is still whinging about EU issues that don't affect the UK or its never given cared about.
While misrepresenting EU freedom of movement which was never just economic but also ties in with basic rights (which need expanded yes, residency rights as a non working spouse are often too hard to acquire, can't transfer vote to another EU country etc) which are also part there so EU citizens meet / marry / get to know each others countries...
Now we have to hope the enemy outside (EU) won't be replaced by enemy inside (left / rejoiners / judges)

You missed the BBC!

That’s been stuffed with quislings, largely neutering it and destroying its reputation.

SOVRENITY:
The moment of Brexit passed without ceremony in Dover. The town had a ghost-like quality, Covid emptying it of New Year’s celebrations, as it approached 11pm with half a dozen trucks trying to make it over the line before the new trade barriers were erected. Greeted by two police officers, they were told the last ferry had departed at 9pm for France. Those who had evidence of a Covid-19 test in the last 72 hours were allowed through to the small lorry park at the port where they could sleep overnight before boarding the 7:40am ferry, the first voyage from Dover under new Brexit trading rules.

Well there you go... I didn't think the Tories would be stupid enough to go through with it, I guess I'm the stupid one for doubting the venal, shape shifting wankers... Oh well, I guess that's that then...

Pretty sure champagne has been a celebratory thing before even the coal and steel pact.

like wtf are your principles...
Did he actually support leave? I didn't realise that. I always thought of him as a europhile.
Still, if Johnson is a product of his environment the guy has some questions to answer.

here's my Stonehenge bit of insider info on that. A good friend of mine's dad is a retired diplomat and was involved in the remain campaign. Apparently Stanley Johnson was also very pro remain and was furious at his son (who was also remain) campaigning for leave solely as a career boost.

The Guardian reported that too I think.

When I lived in Japan, the could reclaim VAT on anything I bought in the UK while visiting, via the kiosk in Heathrow. Is it going to be the same now as a resident of Spain?
The gift just keep giving;
