  • Possibly but from my understanding IKEA stuff isn’t shipped nor sold assembled, so those ROO don’t apply...no?

  • We're not burning red tape, we're just covering it in blue tape.

  • HMRC just announced a temporary arrangement for shipping goods to NI until 31st March...

  • Has mozzarella got to come from Italy to be mozzarella, and then if it's grated here to go on a pizza it's technically still Italian cheese this way?

  • So like an, erm, extension of the current transition arrangements while new ones are negotiated?

  • Mozzarella is made everywhere, it’s not geographically controlled. There’s quite a lot made in the UK already.

  • Not too much detail, this is what we received today...

  • Ah yeah, i meant as an example of cheese - you'd want to preserve the origin of ingredients in food, so there is exceptions around it.

  • Shitty Tory deal has passed.

  • has anyone seen any concrete info about the process(es) that’ll be involved in bringing EU family members (spouse/child) across to live in the UK from January 1st?
mainly worried it’ll need spousal visas and £1000 a pop - paying the price for our indecision :/

gov.uk is all a bit vague - though suppose that’s not particularly suprising...

  • it’ll need spousal visas and £1000 a pop

    So cheap!

Joking aside. It will be mostly that. Look at how they treat non-EU spouses, it will be similar if not same process. Lots of documents, a solicitor and plenty of visa fees.

  • It’ll be the same process as RoW now, that’s one of the Brexit dividends - hostile environment for all forrins.

  • well there goes the rest of my meagre savings then..! guess we’ll just have to take it as it comes.

  • Do you have EU Settled Status?

  • I’m a UK national - wife is EU, and daughter is half-half (or both, really).

I’m also resident in the UK, and they’re both EU resident at the mo (moved back to be close to her parents before baby came along, with me to’ing and fro’ing a lot).

  • Daughter I would imagine can come in as British, wife is difficult. BUT can she prove residency here? Have you any UK paperwork with her name?

Because she can still register for EUSS until next June.

Check out the3million for lots of info on paperwork.

  • She’s lived in the UK before, but not for 5 years, and did her P85 when moving back to the EU. Still has a UK bank account, for what that’s worth (child benefit paid there).

The thing i can’t tell is whether she qualifies for EUSS by virtue of being my wife on Dec 31st, even if she isn’t able to make it back across until after Jan 1st.

  • I'd ask on the 3million Facebook page, people there can help out.

I'm really not sure on marriage. I don't think it helps but not 💯 sure.

If she has paperwork and has left recently, qualifying years do not need to be the past 5 years.

Say she left last year and has some paperwork for years before perhaps it may be enough it's worth a shot.

Note digital paperwork is fine so online bank statements with address can help.

Ask mentioning period here, period left, what she has paperwork wise and good luck! Hopefully you can cobble enough together.

  • great stuff, many thanks for all the tips!

  • Was your daughter born in the UK or in Poland?

  • In Poland, but had her birth registered in the UK at the time.

  • I hope you find a way (if you want that) to get her British citizenship. I don't know anything much about that, I was just asking because I think it's straightforward if she was born here.

  • Pretty much all pizza places in the UK will use UK made Mozza, tomatoes might be another thing as the prices I think will go up on those.

  • From the look of https://www.gov.uk/apply-citizenship-british-parent/born-on-or-after-1-july-2006 and what you have said I think it is likely your daughter is a British citizen and just needs to apply for a passport or an immigration status letter.
