Fat and uncultured?
Mate, I'm right here...

Can the loss of Amber Rudd (my local MP) be called a rat deserting a sinking shit?
It appears that the noxious Johnson is betting everything on a simple beauty contest between himself and Corbyn. The USA voted for Trump, never overestimate the intelligence of the electorate.

Is the scenario Andrew Rawnsley lays out in this article, Johnson's way out?

So I can’t find any press release or even tweet to support it but I was told that ... due to the new pressing situation (election incoming) that there will be some centralisation of the selection going on in Labour.
Combined with the recent 33% rule I think JC will be picking the party.
Tbf Blair did similar in order to win an election.

Tories planning to try and shift Bercow now, will be too late as his work is almost done anyway?

Sadly, Amber Rudd's replacement is just as bad (Thérèse Coffey).

Sadly, they all support the party line, i.e. more deeply anti-social, including anti-disabled, policies. Even the supposedly so saintly 'One Nation' Tory rebels voted for the crap that's been going in for the last nine years. Individual postholders will not make a difference while we have this government in place.

She fit the bill of Johnson’s party (against EU settler, EU membership etc.), so it make sense for them to put someone who’d be happy with a No-Deal.
This could only bring more pain and death in the already blooded hand of the DWP.

So what’s happening with the suspension?
When will it come into effect? -
• #23390
To be fair, USA voted for Clinton. Unfortunately that alone isn't sufficient there.

Who are the tories going to replace all the quit MPs with when it comes to election? Think they'll bring them back in, or replace them with brexit loyalist ex-UKIPers?

replace them with brexit loyalist ex-UKIPers
I fear you have answered your own question there...

Sometimes, you just want to find a very, very hard wall ...
The former supreme court judge Lord Sumption has told the BBC’s Today programme that simultaneously asking the EU for an extension while asking the bloc to reject the request would not be legal. This is how Boris Johnson’s government is planning to sabotage any Brexit extension without breaking the law, according to the Telegraph.
-
• #23394
If Jonathan Sumption says something is illegal, it jolly well is.
-
• #23395
My understanding was that they were proposing to send a 2nd letter that outlined the government’s approach to the backstop and brexit (ie. doing nothing) so that the EU would deny the extension. That’s quite different than asking them to reject the request.
-
• #23396
Does this mean Macron could screw him over by lobbying to allow the extension? Just to get one over on Boris.

These guys are still looking for a draughts piece that rolled under the sofa while everyone else is in the middle of a chess game.

Let's hope this "no-deal" legislation truly is watertight.
So a GE pitting "the people" (not the Remain people those are not people but EU robots disguised as people) VS "the elite" incoming then? Lovely.
-
• #23399
I still can't work out how the opposition to brexit are at the same time both the elite and also socialist marxists who want to take away everyone's money to give it to poor people and immigrants.

• #23400
See also - No-deal is good for UK, but at the same time such a threat that the EU will blink and offer concessions.
Anyway - proroguing to happen tonight, so that's it until 14th October.
