  • We keep saying labour don’t want a GE, but with the Tory rift losing votes to UKIP and UKIP being diluted by Brexit party... is there not a chance now labour is in a position to “win” a GE and possibly form a coalition with a galvanised Lib Dem party?

  • That would involve leadership

  • Lib Dem’s want a referendum and would likely make it a condition of an alliance, which rules said alliance out.

  • I was thinking this too. Single issue parties splitting the vote = time to cash in. Trouble is the fixed term parliament so no GE likely now the dust is settling all summer.

  • Also, why would the Tories allow a GE?

  • Maybe this has been Corbo’s plan all along.

  • If you donate to a legitimate party via a website (using PayPal or other means) you usually fill out a short form with your basic details. It’s easy to implement this.

  • That's easy to lie on though if PayPal doesn't offer any additional auditing, such as bank account / credit card information.

Gofundme etc. ask for all your details, now...I don't know how well they audit but maybe such platforms are a little better again?

  • I was thinking that too.
    :D

  • PayPal have all that information. Someone with authority just has to ask for it. Preferably before Nigel spends all the money and fucking ruins Britain.

  • Again.

  • This is quite an interesting article about dangerous products:

    https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/apr/15/dangerous-products-could-swamp-uk-after-brexit-warns-which

Which? says the public will be vulnerable to delays in spotting and dealing with unsafe products unless continued access to the European Safety Gate system is negotiated.

    [...]

Martyn Allen, the technical director at Electrical Safety First, said that after Brexit: “If no agreement between all contributing member states is found, the UK may be disconnected from Safety Gate.

  • Cool let's hope the EC can go after this.

  • PayPal have all that information. Someone with authority just has to ask for it. Preferably before Nigel spends all the money and fucking ruins Britain.

The transactions are taking place in the US, I'm unsure what mechanism our Electoral Commission would use to compel Paypal to reveal the details of US transactions.

  • A nice letter.

  • Only verified accounts will have bank-held addresses I think. I think an unverified account holds next to nothing, maybe IP addresses, useful to spot multiple donations from multiple accounts? You could of course spot one PP account donating multiple times etc.

It should be totally illegal to fund raise for politics without asking for some details - it wouldn’t stop dark donations, but it would make it possible catch and to measure some.

No doubt Mark Francois and other flatearth brexiteurs believe this is God's Judgement on Macron's refusal to force a No Deal brexit.

  • If Nigel is anything like me he’ll never bother moving the PayPal money out to his bank account and he’ll just end up spending it all on unwise late-night eBay tat

  • Not judging by R4 today, plenty of life long labour voters saying they would vote UKIP next time unless Labour helped take us fully out of Europe, anything less and they wouldn't vote for them

  • It’s funny though isn’t it, the amount of air time this kind of view gets, is it proportionate to a meaningful amount of votes? Do you really think a majority of UK voters want us to leave without a deal? We might be hearing it on the news, but UKIP will never get the support it needs to make an impact on government. (Famous last words)

  • UKIP will never get the support it needs to make an impact on government

Much though it disappoints me ukip can make a valid claim for being the most effective single issue pressure group in UK political history.
The last three years (less 3 months) parliament has been trying to mitigate the effect of ukip,
    and,
we are still not in the clear.

  • I mean in future terms of seats, MPs being part of parliament etc... not the obvious.

  • Given that the Brexshit party are now starting to threaten a tory split/split of tory voters, will the EC come under more pressure to investigate from government?

(If they can that is, I dont profess to know what rules there are in place regarding current parties calling for other parties to be investigated)

  • They could not have done it without decades of toxic media.

Ireland Exit campaigns are laughed at and complete failures.
