  • sleep walking

Very much awake and seemingly unable to do anything to stop the utter fuckplums running Formerly Great Britain.

  • Full of fucking Aussies though.

  • will of the people

Which people? My partner's lived here longer than I have and she didn't get a say in any of this fucking mess.

Next time he visits and you're duty bound to keep the peace, invite some of us over. We have no such barriers to argument...

  • Next time he visits and you're duty bound to keep the peace, invite some of us over. We have no such barriers to argument...

    You're on.

  • Yeah fair enough, I'm not saying Parliament is going to just do nothing. But no deal happening if no one does anything definitely is a very real possibility. I just hope this is not one of those situations where everybody (well, almost everybody) knows it's a terrible outcome, but it ends up happening anyway because of misguided political manoeuvring.

  • Latest rumour is that if May's govt collapses then Kier (56/M/London) will try and lead a Government of National Unity.

    Big if though.

  • True, I was kind of hoping for a bit more of the old in out in out ultra violence.
I mean, the DUP could supply the hats.

  • Really? Where is that from?

  • In Belfast, Remain would probably prevent any bricks from flying. The PSNI knows how to deal with the isolated hardcore fleggers that may kick up.

Looks like "have I got news to you" has been reading this thread!

  • According to PA, the government spent £96,684 on Facebook ads promoting May's deal (that we don't get to vote on).

I saw it on Twitter too as a little video from the PM,I reported it because it's factually incorrect.

  • Hah. Good. I think I saw it too but didn't think of that at the time.

  • Allegedly 48 letters received by the 1922 committee

  • Yup. Twitter is full of this...

  • The selfstyled 'Natural Party of Government' doing what it does best: regicide, in the open.

  • The EU has repeatedly stressed that Michel Barnier, and his team, are negotiating on behalf of the EU27.
Why does May repeatedly attempt to appeal to the individual leaders?
(Especially forlorn with Merkel, while May's MEPs remain in a euro-grouping with those of the AfD).

  • Why does May repeatedly attempt to appeal to the individual leaders?

Pretty standard negotiating tactic when you're on the back foot. Appeal to individuals in the hope they'll stand up for you when the group meets. Can see why she is doing it. I'd be very surprised if she wasn't doing it.

  • I'm still struggling to work out what the Tories think they'll gain by this. Do they really think the EU27 will suddenly change their negotiating position because there's a different face across the table? Or that a new leader will magically be able to produce cake and unicorns at will?

  • Maybe ERG thinks a new leader might be less inclined to cancel the whole thing when cornered?

  • New leader is more likely to ask for extension or bin it.
36 people identified, newsnight last night,as potential candidates 10-15 willing to go for it.

How the shitting fuck they'll get nominations, papers, votes in and counted and rounds of selection done, and brexity brexit sorted I'll never know

  • worst.prime.minister.evar

  • Don’t call that too soon. We don’t know the next one yet.

  • The inevitable consequence of Cameron caving in and agreeing to a Referendum. Tory party putting internal divisions before the Country.
Flatearth brexiteurs will no doubt back a TruBrexit candidate oblivious to the evidence that the EU27 has steadfastly defended the immutability if the Four Freedoms.
Will non-ERG Tory MPs grow the balls to ignore the WillofthePeople?

    derended corrected to defended @hoefla

  • It's quite possible the next one will be worse. In fact probably will be and probably will be a Brexiter.

As terrible as May is objectively the Brexit process needs a Tory leadership race like a hole in the head.
