I'll pop them the bike later and take them for a spin.
Always do this, it gets the seal properly airtight.

PSA. Don't use aluminium vales. Only brass.

• #3504
Why?

• #3505
I should replace mine but I think I'll get as far as adding "replace valve" to my todo list..

I sheared an aluminium valve just below the core. And I have now had reports of a few others having the same.
Personally I am thinking about buying titanium ones.

titanium ones
Tempting on one level, but given titanium's appalling tendency to gall when threaded I'd be wary.

thanks for the point, i'll disregard

Found out the hard way too. Bent easily too (it leak on the middle of the core).
Simple brass/steel does the jobs well (limited choice with deeper rims tho).

You're meant to be my mechanic. Why didn't you inform me!
Huh!

I am having a go at tubeless after many failed attempts. This time I’m using all tubeless components. WTB i25 rims, WTB Horizon Tyres, WTB tape, Stan’s valves and caffelatex sealant. First tyre went up fine. Second one was leaking at the tyre bead. Re-taped rim and all seems OK.
I’m seeing a little bit of sealant at the rim, I guess this is normal to cover the tiny holes?
Guess I’ll just wait until the morning and see if they’re still inflated.

Ride it a bit, then wait until morning.

I have no bike to put it in. Well I do but it’s dirty and I would need to swap chains. I’ll just keep shaking them like maracas.

I got a some seepage. Wiped off excess and all fine now. Just looks a little worrying as it happens.

Anyone used the Pirelli Cinturato H or M gravy biek tyres?
-
• #3517
I do, but it’s my commuting bike and I don’t do it everyday.

Woke up this morning and went downstairs like a kid at Christmas. Success! Fully inflated still and no sealant all over my utility space.

You don't get this with inner tubes
-
• #3520
No, you get punctures.

Grouch level achieved!
-
• #3522
Well, maybe.
I was referring to the moment of elation when you succesfully complete tubeless installation Level 1.

(I've read the first post)
What's the correct procedure for fixing a tubeless puncture on the road? My wife had a puncture this morning that didn't seal, tire went totally flat and then came away from the bead. Using my mini-pump did nothing to help.

A worm.
Or in that situation an innertube, unless carrying Co2.

My plan is to put a tube in. Sort it out at home.
Re-taped one wheel, replaced valve with WTB one. plenty of sealant and this now appears to be ok.
second wheel, did not re-tape (i checked and it appeared to be a good seal), replaced valve. first lot of sealant and it went down, using the submersion in water test the valve core was leaking so replaced that, plenty more sealant and it appears to be holding.
I'll pop them the bike later and take them for a spin.
