• Are the non TLC gravel kings ok for tubeless? I'm nervous about the higher pressures needed on skinnier rubber. I'd like to run a 26c front 28c rear on a bike with tight fork clearance, and ideally set them up tubeless, but i'm concerned the 70 or so psi needed will be pushing it.

  • I've got Hutchinson tubeless on two bikes right now and I'm quite happy with them.

Fusion 3 all season 25s on the fixed - which feel pretty sturdy while still being grippy and supple - much more 'commutable' than a Pro One.

Fusion 5 Galaktik on the road bike (weekend longer rides) and first impressions are very good - maybe not quite as supple as a Pro One but according to Strava a tiny bit faster!

Both were from A Cycles in France and bargainous.

  • I've been using the 32mm non-TLC GKs on Crests at 45 psi for 8 months with no issues. I'll try the 28s at 50-55 psi to start with and see what happens. As far as I could tell they have a reasonable bead (though not the same square section bead as on the TLC 43 SKs) and were a fairly tight fit on the rims.

  • So... what's going on here? Sidewall bulge? Went to inflate my tyres yesterday after not using my bike for a week, and air is just hissing out the bead. Pushed the bead off and popped it on again, and it stopped leaking, but I'm afraid of it blowing up.

Went to swap on another tyre, but forgot about having to add a layer of rimtape to account for bead stretching so couldn't get that to seat either ...

  • I've given that cheap blue tape from Planet-x a go, with not brilliant results.
Won't seat the tyre properly, leaks in various places including the valve area.
    Gone back to TESA tape.

  • Airshot still the best if you don't need a new track pump?

  • Is the G-One Speed still the best fast but biggish road tubeless?

I presume a pair would definitely feel faster than my Voyager Hypers?

Is there a cheaper but almost as good option? £86 a pair is a bit painful :/

  • I like the look of them but they're 650b only right? I have two pairs of 700c wheels and a frame designed for 700c...

  • L'Oréal of the tyre world...

  • 650b only right?

soz I thought you were after 650b.

G one speed, dont think about anything else for road riding.

  • Gravel kings

  • G-One Speed as per Amey. Best tyres eeevveeerrrr

  • I rode my Fusion X-Guard 28s with Caffelatex from Devizes to Bath on the Kennet & Avon canal recently, some of the sections were dead rough and not what I'd call forgiving. Rims plastic so not forgiving. I am pretty heavy and was carrying overnight camping gear. Amazed how well things held up. Got a small hole at some point but it sealed before I'd even noticed it.

Love this black magic tubeless malarkey.

  • S-Ones are really fast and reliable.

  • how old is this tyre. It looks pretty fresh to me so I think I might have to send a replacement.

  • It's on its way back to you with the dented rim! Only about 150 km on it unfortunately.

  • Did you hit a pothole or kerb to dent the rim?

  • Would g one speed (great tyres that they are) be any faster than hyper voyager?

I’m not sure that they would. I’ve run both tyres albeit on very different bikes and my recollection of the hyper voyagers was that they were very very smooth and quite quick.

I think g one speeds would be a bit better on rough or wet surfaces but not necessarily faster overall.

No science here just my view.

  • Its the dented rim tyre. Any impact that can dent a rim can damage a tyre. That sadly is not a warranty however I can help you since it's so new.

  • I'd say so, although it wasn't a spontaneous kind of failure, as it was on my way out for a ride that I noticed it. Strange one. My rim does have a dent in it. Anyhow, it's in @cycleclinic's able hands now (or 2 working days).

  • I was wondering that to be honest. I am massively unfit at the moment so it could partly be wishful thinking that faster tyres would help, although I feel like my Terra C could be faster than it is.

Being better on rough/wet surfaces would be no bad thing though, there are some pretty perilous potholes in Essex at the moment after the long winter.
