Tubeless rims, but non tubeless GKs. Might try that next time I have to take them off
-
• #1628
The few times I mounted a non tubeless tire I've got a bit too. But just after mounting them, a quick ride used to solve it.
-
• #1629
No seepage on mine.
-
• #1630
I have rolling road Crr results back for the IRC tyres. There is one surprise in there too.
-
• #1631
seapage is a sign of a lack of sealing. try soapy water to get the bead to pop into place properly.

Schwalbe Pro One 28mm ~29.7mm on Light Bicycle U65 rim.
-
• #1633
That's on 18,35mm internal right?
On a 19mm Killin rims should be more then, looks like I'll be using the 25c -
• #1634
Not necessarily, the tyre is sticking proud of the rim on mine, so wider rim might just change the shape of the tyre?

Hippy asked about rolling resistance of IRC tyres I had a hunch but I had no numbers I do now.
Test done at 30kph with a 40 kg load and 80psi
The schwalbe pro one was tested too as s comparison and has a crr of 11.6w but it can't do as many miles or grip in the wet. It is as every thinks a fast tyre.
The roadlite 25mm has crr of 13.7w
The formula pro rbcc has a crr of 15.2W
The formula pro X guard has a crr 18.6w.
The pro light was tested but there is something a miss. Crr was a tad higher than the rbcc tyre. So now I have to IRC the bad news.I have data at higher pressures but since tubeless tyres are ridden at 80 psi or thereabouts that is what is best quoting. So the surprise is the roadlite. I thought it felt gp4000sII quick and it is.

Are they gonna do those in 28mm?
-
• #1637
Can someone test the Maxxis Padrone
TIA
-
• #1638
I run lower pressures than that, did you do any testing at other pressures which might give a clue as to how that impacts these things?
-
• #1639
I have tests done at 120 to 60 psi. I need to put it in a table. At £90 per tyre the 28mm tyres can wait. The roadlite comes out best at all pressures.
I have a set of pardones and there I a section of road near my house perfect for aerochung testing. On windless days I will do some runs and see if any meaningful crr comparisons result. I also have other tyres and bigger test is in process. Each tyre will be run till it's dead. The schwalbe one on my sannino were used.last Friday when it was wet. They picked up damage and the front tyre let go all over my parents floor in Italy. Fortunately it tiled. A worm has fixed it for now. Next tyres on that bike are mavic yskion UST 25mm. I am going to have to up my mileage what a shame.

Good work Malcolm, personally I find the Padrones more reassuring cornering especially when wet over the Pro Ones, but haven't yet tested if the Padrones are quicker. May try the Mavics when the Exalith UST rims come out in December
-
• #1641
does this mean the 40psi I run my s-ones at is way too low?
-
• #1642
I've got 45psi in my from 28c Sector, sure you'll be fine with that.
-
• #1643
So Mavic have given a release date then for the exalith. I am still waiting for the disc rims. That were due last month.
-
• #1644
The 25mm roadlite sizes like a 28mm tyre so no need.
-
• #1645
If I ever test the Schwalbe and tubeless goes ok I will likely give those IRC a go.
-
• #1646
Whats the date Malcolm? And prices.......

looks like @Mu_Mu is happy with IRC tyres: http://www.cyclist.co.uk/reviews/3601/irc-formula-pro-tubeless-x-guard-tyres-review

I put a hole in the sidewall of my Pro-one today. Nothing surprising, it was a very sharp flint. Only annoying thing is all my sealant had congealed since I installed them at the end of June. How often should one scoop out and replace old sealant?
-
• #1649
Before it goes solid.
-
• #1650
Which depends on the sealant and conditions such as temperature
Tubeless tyres and rims, not normal, perhaps needs an extra layer of tape, or a friend recommends painting a bit of selaantnall the way around the bead when installing, by paint I mean rubbing it on with finger but it sounded more elegant...
