Sounds fun, I'm in
-
• #3
What's the first topic then? :)
-
• #4
I'm game.
Rules wise - I think subjects (or themes?) should be fairly loosely defined.
-
• #5
What about a winner list. Start it in your comment and just update every week.
Whats the first topic then.
-
• #6
Yes, definitely interested.
Can't say that I'll put forward a photo for a lot of weeks with working long hours mon-fri but I will when I can.
Some people who might be interested, off the top of my head

Maybe Sunday to Sunday would be better?
Otherwise great idea.
Let's advertise this a couple times in both the analogue and digital threads.. -
• #8
Agree, Sunday to Sunday makes sense.
-
• #9
Sounds good!
-
• #10
Might do a little test run till next Sunday then.
When does the voting start / end?
Saw a similar thing on another forum that worked well, - they collected all the entries until, say, saturday evening, then voted till sunday evening, and on Monday morning the winner posted the new topic.. -
• #11
Ok great, glad you guys are keen.
How about Architecture for the first subject.
Winner is the photo with the most votes on Sunday at 10pm. Vote in the comments and keep the list running if you can.

Sounds great,
How about photoshopping or photo manipulation?
-
• #14
Great idea, I'm in!
Also ^ good point. I think post is inevitable and is just part of the job. Just don't add or remove anything. No clone stamping etc. Bit of a (re)touchy subject ;)
-
• #15
I'd say try to keep to minimal re-touching but fine to tweak levels, convert to B+W etc.
If people want to put a short description of their setup and post for their entry it would be good for others learning.
I think @ItkI the idea of entries closing on a Saturday at midnight and voting just being on the Sunday makes sense. I'll update the OP.

Not being able to take photos on a Sunday will make it hard though, as there are few non-working daylight hours to shoot in midweek. Why not vote on a weekday?
-
• #17
Obligatory first entry:
;-)
-
• #18
This week's winner so early in the week?
-
• #19
ha I was just reading bout that!

This, I often think this when I see photos I like in some of the other threads.

Good point.
How about:
shooting & posting picture until Sunday midnight so people can seize their non-working hours,
then voting until Monday midnight, counting votes / announcing winner / posting new topic that night or Tuesday morning?@mi7rennie - I think the running list of votes, copy-pasted in every single post, is overkill and looks really ugly.
I propose that the previous winner just scrolls through the votes making a quick tally and announcing the next winner. -

I'd say do what you want.
I mean who'd judge whether a picture is edited "too much", or still minimal enough? -

Subbed, I'm in
Hi Guys,
I've had an idea to start a weekly LFGSS photography challenge, a way to inspire the photographers and budding photographers on here to try new subjects, techniques and styles.
Rules
Photos must be taken during the week of the challenge. No photos from you archive allowed.
You can submit a picture up until 10pm (was midnight) on the Sunday, voting will then run on Monday until 10pm at which point I'll count up the votes and announce the winner. The winner will then pick the next category and count the votes for the following week.
One entry allowed per person per week. In the event of a draw the previous winner chooses the winner.
A title, description and the theme for the week e.g., "Architecture" and date of submission should be included in the entry. You can also tag the photo i.e. #Architecture.
Images should be embedded in the thread rather than linked.
Any editing allowed but please be honest about what has been done, this is about learning as much as a bit of healthy competition.
Comments and constructive criticism are welcome.
I will update these rules as I see fit once we've run a few challenges.
Cheers,
Mike
