also eventually going to need a da fluted seat post, I forgot how big this bike was I'm not so worried about having a nice aero bit and then 3" of pipe before it reaches the seat tube any more

The three screws pin in place a place that lies on top of the clips holding them in place.
AFAIK they are meant to be used with flat shoes and have no kind of clipless system.
Assuming you're talking of the bottom (pedal) picture.

they are so bastardly expensive I am going to look at some interim options. I've got cheapo track pedals with straps but haven't ridden it yet anyway.
What is the correct look pedals (High end 1988-90)? for it? Da pedals eventually, DA post same story, silly money for a nice one and the Nitto one I have is nice enough. Might be close.

lovely bike!
what size are the shoes? possible dibs if ever thinking of selling ;)

They are both correct. However many used look pedals on the DA groupset. That's something you can easily find for cheap.
And no, albeit the toe straps ones could be used with flat shoes without the cages, I'd recommend to keep the straps and use flat shoes anyway, like I do on mine. Without straps they'd be too slippery.I use the Chrome Kusk (not the spd ones), and they slide in a threat. Used the Kusk spd ones and they somehow get stuck and don't slide in as easily.

Yeah I've seen many bikes with DA7400 and the Flite, they go very well together and it's a comfy saddle.

sorry man didn't see this, they were on ebay and much too small for me, just kinda thinking about loud shoes

I've done fuck all on this bike for ages and its basically all done save for plumbing the gears and the stuff is in front of me...
Urge has gone because I don't have anywhere to go on it and I can finish it in a couple of hours if I want to so now I can't be bothered. WHY? what a strange way to behave.
Anyway in the meantime I've built up the mini bob jackson path racer type thing I got from @f1s for my girlfriend. Sort of for my girlfriend, she'll have to give it back when/if she's done with me. That's an expensive gift.

ahhhh done. Yeah thanks for storing at the bottom of a canal @f1s!
Steerer thread was fucked, fucked up a nice campag headset trying to get it on and Tom found a tall stack and put spacers over the buggered threads, genius! Took me two days of bafflement and having to resort to several prayers to Jah and he fixed it this morning.... anyway that's why the headset is a bit weird
bb threads were quite fucked up. cycleps is a real bike shop that have a tool that sorts all that out.
Built the wheels last week and bolted the rest on today. Saddle is obviously also horrible on this bike as well as the Rossin, but she will have to choose her own, likewise with pedals, the overlap is hilarious without adding unnecessary cages to the mix.
I rode it around it for a bit, singlespeed bikes are fucking confusing if you're used to fixed and I looked like a clown but it all seemed very nice. Still a really decent frame.
Tomorrow I will put a fixed cog on and do skids and then find and fit the rear brake and give it to her.

I bought a sugino uno (condor branded rd2) DS crank and ring but the left is missmatched, I would like to buy a silver Sugino crank in 165 if you have one.
Are there any nice vintage ish (turbo/rolls era) women's saddles?
Other than that I have to try and change the thread title and apologise for not slamming the stem but it no want to go more in.

already looking nicer with a teal turbo
what do single speeders push against? massive black plastic pedals with reflectors on them? don't think the super old rat trap is going to look nice here either, what to do?

there have been some bob improvements, I've destroyed 2 paselas. fit them and after a 3 mile ride and a fucking 1/4 mile ride both have spontaneously blown through the sidewalls and seperated from the beads.
really not completely sure i didn't fuck up putting them on but i've fit and unfit and refit at least a few dozen tyres in my life and never done it before... oh well ordered her the same clement strada gumwalls I've got on the Rossin.
Otherwise bob has front and back brakes, and a shorter stem, and a rack!pics attached of bodge rack mount made from some bits of t shaped something. I've had a rivet gun for ages but never used it but I riveted this shit and it was great.
All bikes need a twiddle on the wheels now they've settled in a bit which is good excuse to clean everything and put the stradas on the bob. Also bought 28s, seeing as there's room might as well mine are lovely.
Took her out for the first time ever last weekend, a lovely ponder up the river lea then stopped for a picnic in epping forest. Utterly charming afternoon with a good friend, no pictures and a bit dusty. little bit of ffiddling with the gears and agonising over a shorter stem... still very very lovely to ride all day if not utterly baffling to not only have a frewheel but the brakes on the wrong side....

Nice bikes.
FYI, I have a set of the DA 7401's and absolutely love them. Easy to clip in/out, very easy to regrease (they have 3 sets of bearings), and just last forever..absolute tanks.
I use the red Delta cleats that give tons of float...I believe it's around 9 or so degrees. Really nice on your knees.
I just searched around on ebay and found a local guy that had a set in awesome condition for $20 US.
Of course they're a bit heavy but you can't beat their strength/smoothness. I have a friend that only rides track and uses the black cleats (no float)...he's had a few sets of 7401's for 20+ years of heavy use and they're still super smooth.
(this talks about the bearing setup)
