  • I've been told that with this setup, I shouldn't have/need any shims, but compared to my BB30 Caad10 with the wavy washers etc, that surprises me.

Hollowtech 2 cranks are a different design. They self adjust for frame tolerances through the NDS preload bolt and sliding NDS arm. They will still work that way when using adapter cups in a BB30 (ish) frame.

The turbo will bring out every creak, ping and whistle in a bike. Leave it alone and put some headphones on :)

Assume you've stripped and cleaned the cranks and all the adapter bits?

  • Thanks, pm'd just in case!

  • Haven't fully degreased, but have cleaned and added some grease.

I've got a high velocity floor fan which drowns out some of the noise, but the carbon frame amplifies the noise loads!

  • LBS appears to have sorted out the clicking, and installed my aerofly handlebars, but received a call today saying that bike won't be ready for collection, as they have accidentally snapped the front brake calliper ?!

Shall be having an interesting conversation with them Monday lunch time...
Sourcing a spare Tririg omega brake isn't going to be so straightforward...

  • WTF? That is pretty poor work.

  • Pics attached:

Not sure what happened, the back plate of the calliper has snapped clean off on one side... glad it happened on the workbench, not down a hill at 35mph...

Email sent to Tririg, because it surely can't just be user error...

  • Tririg have been awesome, warranty replacement on its way.
Putting duraace 9000 on the bike while waiting for it.

  • Debadged Zipp sprint stem.
Only realised the NDS once bike was back in the garage...

  • Now to find a Garmin mount that fits the wide stem clamp and aero section handlebar...

  • Had a bike fit, and been suggested to slam stem, but go shorter to 90mm, so the zipp stem will temporarily go in the parts bin.

    Getting this sexy stem though:

And probably going to put some lizard skins black camo tape for a bit more personality.

  • Been having really frustrating rear shifting issues for a while on this, possibly a combination of Duraace 7900 being picky with cables and outers, internal routing, internal routing on handlebars, small frame - tight cable runs.

So tomorrow it goes to a Specialized dealer to get full DA9000 installed, with 9000 polymer cables, and get the ceramicspeed BB bearings looked at as there is some clicking that only appears at 600-700+ watts.

If that doesn't sort it, Di2 time.

  • clicking that only appears at 600-700+ watts.

    Boast post

  • Hah, only for 30s, then back to heady heights of 3w/k

  • There's a club for people like you...

  • All I want to do is belong...

  • Some TLC for the Venge:

Di2, zipp stem, power saddle, reynolds wheels, low stack headset cover.

  • Bit busy on the cabling, need to find a better solution. Aerofly Bars won’t easily accept a bar end junction box which would be the ideal.
Front brake cable is contacting the junction box, and want to sort it before thinking about sugru-attaching the junction box to the stem.

  • Temporary solution: cable ties!
It’s not attached that firmly so will watch out for rattle.

  • What happened to the Tririgs?

  • This is lovely. The junction box is ugly as sin though (and I say that as a Di2 user). Have you considered the bar end junction box? More spend but that doesn't seem to have put you off so far ;).

  • This happened:
Tririg replaced the brake, but since I put the duraace 9000s back, and haven’t been bothered to change it back yet.

It would help with the cable routing at the front a bit though.
Tririgs are currently on TT bike.

  • Yeah I was hoping to get one fitted at the bike shop, but they tried for ages to try and route the di2 cable, but sadly there is something getting in the way.

I’m going to try and get some narrower bars, and will make sure I can fit the bar end shifter for that.

Anyone have a di2 compatible aero handlebar in 38 or 40cm?

  • Different wheels: Venn 507 rims on Powertap g3 hubs
Tidied up di2 junction box a little.
