She has been named as Luam Gebremariam, from Eritrea.

Her death has attracted wide coverage, probably because she was killed by a police driver.
RIP.

Here's another bad crash in which a driver crashed into a bus stop and injured people standing there:
The victim has 'life-threatening' injuries.
This crash follows the deaths of Toiria Ouhoid in Twickenham ...
... and of three boys in Hayes:
All were killed when drivers crashed into bus stops.

Upper Tulse Hill - Dumbarton - Lyham - Kings Ave
It vaguely follows the south circular without the traffic lights. New Park Road has traffic lights at the end so they don't do that as it would mean they stop.
Thanks, forgot to reply to this. A lot of crashes are caused by typical rat-running behaviour, so it's very important to identify rat-runs and take preventative action. Modal filtering is really the only measure that works.

More of an Epic WTF.

Also on Friday morning, a van driver was killed after he collided with a fallen tree on the B4306 between Pontyberem and Llannon in west Wales. “A large tree had fallen across the road and collided with the van,” Dyfed-Powys police told WalesOnline. “Tragically, the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene and his family is being supported by police.”
The fallen tree collided with the van? Not a falling tree, so presumably one that was innocently laying across the road which the van driver somehow failed to see.
RIP, tree.

It's always a special kind of horrible when a child is hit, and here's another tragic death.
RIP Emmie.

This is a horrible story - the cctv is shocking. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-47319221
Most baffling to me, is that the shortest jail term went to the driver. How does that work? 10 1/2 year sentence. He could be back on the streets in 2024. Mad.

I guess it seems strange, but he pleaded guilty unlike the others. What's more disturbing for me is that one of the passengers had already been to jail for killing someone in 2015 (death by dangerous driving).
It seems like they all received quite long sentences compared to those you normally read about.

Mellor, of Bank End Road, Worsbrough Dale, and Mawhinney, of Calder Crescent, Kendray, both admitted aggravated vehicle-taking. They were jailed for 13 and 12-and-a half years respectively
Carroll, of Chestnut Street, Grimethorpe, denied that offence but was convicted by the jury. He was jailed for 12-and-a half years.
Hill, of East View, Cudworth, admitted causing death by dangerous driving before the trial. He was sentenced to 10-and-a-half years.Seems like only one of them didn't plead guilty. The maximum sentence for both offences is 14 years. There may be other circumstances that the judge took in to consideration.

Perhaps the driver was not actually involved in the vehicle taking. I dunno. Still, when you see the cctv it's hard to imagine how its possible to drive in a more dangerous way, and that surely driving a truck like that is significantly worse than stealing the truck in the first place. It says it was agrivated stealing, which suggests they assaulted the original driver in the first place. Don't sounds like a nice bunch of chaps.

Hi all. Not sure if this is the right thread... please point me in the direction if incorrect.
We are running a survey to understand the experience of crash victims (not just cyclists) who have been in a crash in London October 2015 or after - slight injury, serious injury and fatalities.
The purpose of this survey is to understand more about how victims (in London specifically) are treated by the police, and what their experiences are of the collision investigation process – its perceived quality and their treatment.
We will be using the findings of this survey to compile a report, which we will present to the Victim’s Commissioner, the Met and TfL.

Please share with anyone who has been in a collision - and let me know if there are other forums I can post in.
Thanks

Already disqualified from driving. Child left for dead. No jail time makes me angry.
Could be argued what would that achieve. But obviously a driving ban has had no effect.

Yep, you guessed it. Only 16 months.

Another bad crash involving a police check on a vehicle. It doesn't say whether there was an active police pursuit at the time, but the perpetrators panicked, anyway, with disastrous results.
Fingers crossed for the pedestrian.

Also, 'airbulance'--not a coinage I like.

The pedestrian died apparently, although it only seems to have been reported in the Islington Gazette...

Awful news. Quite often, local newspapers are first with the story and the Standard will take it from them and/or do some further reporting.
From the Gazette story, it seems that the reported robbery was much further north, in Hornsey Rise Gardens, and either the vehicle was related, in which case the driver could well have driven down Hornsey Road, Tollington Road, and Caledonian Road before being spotted, or the vehicle was unrelated to that earlier incident. Either way, it seems as if they were pursued along Copenhagen Street from Caledonian Road to York Way.
The new junction of York Way and Caledonian Road is very wide, and one can imagine a slow-walking pensioner being exposed for a long time while crossing, especially to the kind of reckless driving that must have ensued.
RIP.
