  • Any progress?

  • Not really.
Bike budget went on supplies and service parts for the road bike for a Mallorca trip.

Just got back from riding a short trail on the fatbike. Epic fun -4C, so mad icy). Feel motivated again.

Just need forks, stem, and cranks really.

    Thinking of these....http://www.raceface.com/components/cranks/turbine/turbine-cinch-crank/

  • Spiderless version looks good.

  • Mamib, Mamils i feel old, all these tags i don't understand.
Build the bike it will be awesome, maybe with your current ambient temps don't ride nude you will survive.
    :)
    Enjoying the thread.

  • I've bought some enduro* shoes is that helps.

    (*commuter shoes with added colour)

I like spiderless. Plus I can get an oval ring for it. Which my legs are used to. Its important that this bike covers both fun and training. Much as i hate to admitt it. I actually resent having fun on the fatbike if I cant justify it by being training. Lame I know.

  • I've always wanted a nice full sus mountain bike.

Have you bought that Jekyll yet?

  • Bumpity bump.

  • This has been on hold as i get the road bike season ready.

    Getting back on it now.

  • Cant afford an all out new bike. Silly as it would ultimately be cheaper.

This is going to be awsome.

    Just a smidge heavy.

  • road bike season

    You've changed, man :'-(

  • Quite keen to see how those KOM rims stand up to abuse.

  • They built up nice.

Super comp spokes and squorx nips.
    Front hope pro, rear powertap.

    Reckon they'll be good.

This bike is definitely a short travel AM bike now.

Still need to climb on it though.

  • Right. I've been selling stuff like mad to fund a bit of Acceleration in this Project.

I've sold that DT-Swiss shock. I'm not happy With how I mounted it. Plus, despite someone convincing me I needed Remotes for shock and fork. I've also decided thats just not for me. @BareNecessities was kind enough to knock up some CAD pics fopr me. Which has convinced me to stick With the advised 120mm travel up front, and a short stem. The frame is designed to be a snappier Version of the Meta AM. Shorter stays, Shorter travel, lighter (LOL) etc. I think I'll be screwing With this if I chuck a 130/140mm fork on.

    Ordered:

    • X-fusion RLX shock.
    • X-fusion Slant 34 RL2 fork.
    • All Mountain Style stem.
    • Shimano comatible BB

I'll be downgrading the fatbike to get this one built. So I'll be using my Hope M4 brakes, and Crank bros mallet pedals (I will replace these on the fatbike With some candys and some more budget friendly brakes).

In the process of finishing off the Wheels and mounting tyres. Just need cranks, chainring, and rear axle.

Really this bike is as fun in the Mountains, as it lookes to be on paper.

  • The stem was selected partly because the Norwegian importer I contacted threw me off guard buy being polite and friendly while offering great service. Partly because its so damned sexy. 35mm clamp to fit my Easton Haven bars.

  • Was directed to a novatec xd driver to fit my powertap. Have fitted my 10-42 cassette no. So the rear wheel is now officially a boat anchor.

    Left to get.

    Shimano XT M8000 165mm cranks
Syntace X-12 type 142x12 rear axle (recommendations gratefully accepted here)
    11 speed chain

  • My new shock arrived. Seems very nice. The dials click nicely, and the slick ano, is indeed very slick. I've ordered bushings for it. I now have a bag of various bushings, seals and spacers. Could live without collecting more. So hope they fit.

More excited by the fork that I've been waiting on. Turns out it was delivered to my Postoffice on the 6th may. But I never recieved Notification. bah. I'll pick it up tonight.

I can then put the bike together to see fit at least.

  • 760mm

was set to cut it down. But it feels fine just holding it. So I'll test it out as is.

    Fork arrived. Looks solid.

  • Yeah, I'd definitely not do anything with it till you ride it. Wide bars are the way to go. I'm on 780mm now and I'll probably go for 800m at some point soon.

  • I'm small (furry too, but that doesnt effect fit). But when I hold the bars at the ends and pretend I'm pumping the front. I have plenty of movement.
