I have a tiny bike going spare. It doesn't get smaller than this with 700c wheels!
It is a 48cm Reynolds 531 "Special Lightweight" complete bike. Royal blue with gold lined lugs. This is the second bike that was custom made for its original owner in the late 70's (1978/1979).
This one was hand built by Bernard Carré and was indeed french made: bottom bracket shell & headset are french threaded, ), Campagnolo dropouts.
It is made of the French metric version of the late 1970s Reynolds 531 "SL" (Special Lightweight) tubing, called 531"Extra Leger" in France.
Frameset: Reynolds 531 SL tubing. It has a 48cm (centre to centre) seat tube and a 52cm top tube (centre to centre). Combined with a 70mm stem, it is best suited for the sub 5ft5.
Good used condition, the paint is an original high quality job - just some slight pitting under the top tube and a couple of minor chips, no dents. Clearance wise, it'll fit up to 700c x 28mm tyres and has mudguard eyes so can be wintered up. Spidel/Stronglight headset with angular bearings.
Gearset: Gipiemme Strada double cranks with drillium big ring, Kyokuto Pro Ace pedals.
Simplex Super LJ rear deraileur on a Maillard Course short ratio 5 speed freewheel.
Brand new Clarks chain.
Huret front Mech.
Huret alloy friction downtube levers (dated 1978).
Brakes: Shimano 600 brakeset (62XX), new inner/outer brake cables.
Wheels: Full size 70oc Mavic G40 clincher rims on Ofmega hubs. Brand new Vittoria Rubino 700x23mm tyres.
Cockpit: 70mm Cinelli Milano stem with first generation Benotto 40cm bars (dated 1976). Brand new Tektro areo brake levers. New lime green tape.
Asspit: Huret 26.4mm seatpost (about 20mm layback - dated 1979) with brand new PX lime green saddle.
That's about it. These small size, good quality steel bikes do not come up for sale often.
For those allergic to my tape/saddle colour choice, I have the original saddle and black tape.
I am after £225 -> SOLD SOLD SOLD FOR £200 to @bidnodfor the complete bike.
