• [strike=1]Hi all, [/strike]

I have a tiny bike going spare. It doesn't get smaller than this with 700c wheels!

It is a 48cm Reynolds 531 "Special Lightweight" complete (cyclocross) bike. Royal blue with gold lined lugs.

Late 70's custom made frame with high-ish quality period components.
No frame numbers or builders' name but it is french made: Cinelli SC bottom bracket shell (french threaded), Campagnolo dropouts, 'Burdini' stamped seat cluster. Campagnolo headset (also french threaded).
It is made of the French metric version of the late 1970s Reynolds 531 "SL" (Special Lightweight) tubing, called 531"Extra Leger".

Frameset: Reynolds 531 SL tubing. It has a 48cm (centre to centre) seat tube and a 52cm top tube (centre to centre). Combined with a 70mm stem, it is best suited for the sub 5ft5.
Good used condition, the paint is an original high quality job and there are two small dings where the handle bar hit the top tube in transit. Clearance isn't massive - it'll fit up to 700c x 28mm tyres. Campagnolo Headset. Impero frame fit pump.

Gearset: Gipiemme Strada double cranks with drillium big ring, Kyokuto Pro Ace pedals.
Huret Jubilee rear deraileur on a Maillard Course short ratio 6 speed freewheel (both of these go for £££ on eBay).
    Sedis chain.
    Dura-Ace first generation front Mech.
    Campagnolo Record friction downtube levers.

Brakes: Fitted with Mafac rear / Weimann front canti brakes, new inner/outer Jagwire lime green brake cables.

Wheels: Full size 70oc Tubular Mavic rims on Campagnolo Record large flange 28 holes hubs. Rare hubs which would polish well (and sell well on eBay). The front rim has been changed to a Mavic GP4 with loads of life left, the rear rim will need replacing shortly as I noticed a small crack around one spoke hole. The tubular tyres will need changing too. I have a spare 700c Maillard clincher 6 speed wheelset that I can fit instead.

Cockpit: 70mm Cinelli Milano stem with first generation Cinelli Giro d'Italia 40cm bars. CLB non-areo brake levers with new Dia-Compe white rubber hoods. New Fi:zik shiny white tape.

Asspit: SR Laprade 26.6mm seatpost (about 15mm layback) with beat up white San Marco Rolls saddle.

That's about it. These small size, good quality steel bikes do not come up for sale often, especially with cantilever brakes.

I have re-greased both bottom bracket and headset. New hoods, bar tape and brake cables.

I am after ** SOLD for £250** for the complete bike and will include a bottle of Champagne in the sale.

    Pick up from Stoke Newington.

    Cheers

    Vince

  • Pm'd :)

  • If you come across those Mafac brakes (or Racer) again please buy them for me; I'll pay.

  • Very nice, perfect for user57983!

  • Sup' Amey!

So you want either Mafac Cantilevers or 'standard' Mafac Racer?

I'll have a look next time I am in France but I am pretty sure I have a spare Mafac Racer brakeset.

    I have PM'd back @user57983
