I’ll just buy one without them. This was borrowed from my pub bike. I’ll put it back on there once I get a new basket, so I’ll leave all the attachments on there.

wider rims like the H+Son’s give the brakes less mechanical advantage and poor braking.
Highly doubt it.

From my experience, the wider rim, such as the H+Son made the brake arms sit angled down, even with the spacers swapped around to the narrowest setting. Changing the rims to narrower ones allowed the arms to sit better and work better.
It’s also discussed here:

My assumption was this was corrected for. I can see your point now.
I just went from 16mm internal width rims to 25mm, on a 90's frame. No issues. Canti stud spacing must've been enough to accommodate for that I guess. Or the brakes themselves.

I’m assuming this frame is older than 90’s, or at least the forks are (they’re not original), hence the narrow canti spacing.

Bike looks fantastic. Well done.

Also, pretty sure I'm never putting cantis on a bike. Ever.

Well I tried mini-v’s on this, but the spacing was too narrow, so canti’s it is.

Went out on some rocky single track today.

All up this is less than a 20k round trip from home.

I wanna do PWT again!

I miss being able to do it with mates to have a few beers up the top!

Dragged myself out of bed this morning and was welcomed with this. A loop of 30 or so k’s, bit of climbing and some nice gravel roads. If I didn’t have to go home to work, I would’ve liked to explore further.
I also wouldn’t mind upgrading the rear cassette to a 11-40, from the 11-36 on there. Not sure if my derailleur will cope though.

Couple more of my new favourite road. I’m hoping to ride it again soon. Unfortunately this morning I had to turn around at the bottom and loop back towards home up a very steep road (last picture above).

Old Cherryville Rd is great, even on skinny tyres. How did you get up there, via Moore's and Colonial?
-
• #169
Yeah, it’s a pretty casual. The WTB Nano 40’s were probably overkill, but whatever. It had some loose stuff, but nothing compared to Chambers or PWT.
And yeah, Norton’s > Colonial > Moores > Cherryville(s) > Montacute. Nice little loop.

The bottom of Cherryville / Fernhurst is where it's at! Dead end and a looooong grind back up.
But yeah, I'm looking forward to some outdoor riding now that I am allowed again, although my shoulders, neck and grip strength might not be ready for gravel yet.

Yeah, I was looking at google maps after my ride today and I thought that you could take Old Cherryville Rd, then Church / Fire Station Rd through to Merchants Rd all the way through to the bottom of Blockers, but by the looks of things it’s private property for a section between Fire Station and Merchants, which is a shame.

Nice build and pictures!!

Thanks!

Allegedly there is a way through somewhere that isn't private property, but it's the guys that study maps obsessively that know.

Yeah, and I figure there’s plenty of other gravel roads / tracks that can be legally ridden I don’t need to worry about trespassing or finding alternative hidden routes.
are you gonna try to pry off the wald hook things, or just buy one without them?
