I don't know man, I'm not feeling it yet.
Edit: looks like a lot of my images are dead on this thread. I'll see if I can upload some of them.

Some updated pics. Spoked wheel was late summer 2018 after the rebuild. I’m not commuting by bike much at the moment so I’ve got the disc on for all teh lols.

Lovely! Looks quality with two normal wheels. In the long term future it’s gotta go back to gold

I miss the gold so much!

I’m looking forward to retrieving this from work on Wednesday. I went in by bike for a brief couple of hours week before last and had a check on it, but this will be my first full day back onsite since mid March. Will have the car this time so I’ll be able to bring it home. It was looking a bit sorry for itself but not as bad as I was expecting.

Retrieved this yesterday. Sitting in the bike shed for 5 months during lockdown hasn't done it a lot of favours but it's basically ok and just need a good clean and an oil.
Disc has picked up some interesting spray pattern on one side from whatever the contractors have been doing on the side of the bike shed. Looks like concrete spray or some kind of flooring screed but it should clean off. I don't know if sitting in the south facing sun for 5 months has done the composite any favours so I need to clean it off and give it a good check. The other sidewall of the tub is definitely looking more suntanned than this side so that might need replacing.
Like I said in the other thread, it's old Russian. It has survived cold war, communism, fall of the Soviet Union and now global apocalypse and a little bit of neglect. It'll be fine.

Definitely one of my favourites from the forum, lovely thing. :)

Cheers guys!
I cleaned up the disc and checked it over. Nothing of concern except the lacquer had tarnished a bit. I rubbed a load of Demon Shine into it and it’s looking a lot better. Pretty sure it’s picked up a little pedal dink but... it doesn’t really show, in the grand scale of things...
Crispy side on the tub too. When I find my crack pipe I’ll see if it wants to take pressure.

Great thread this. Forgive me, what’s going on with the patchwork look on the disc?
-
• #62
The shape of the plies is the patchwork effect. They are a sort of barbell shape stacked on top of each other like in this pic. The light/dark is a combination of the fibre orientation reflecting the light and some fading where it’s had oval decals on it at some point.
The rest of it is dents and not very good repairs!

Not used this much in the last year. Most biek duty done on the Rudy, GT and cargo bike with my boy onboard. This one has mostly just been doing local fun with silly wheels and suffering from the damp in the shed. Took it into work and cleaned it up so I can use it for local chores and the occasional commute when I get the chance, like tonight.

Could hear occasional rubbing on the way in this morning. Saw the tyre was almost touching the seat tube and spotted this slit and bulge. That’s inner tube at the bottom of the slit.

Got lucky for the rest of the journey and swapped it for my HED which was stashed at work. So now we’re back to this.

Wish I had a HED stashed at work haha! Still one of my favourite tarckbikes on this forum, so rad!

Lol, thanks! The HED is actually at work so I can convert it to a nutted axle and 120mm OLN. It's not ideal with the security skewer even though it doesn't seem to slip, it's just a pain to squeeze 130mm into a 120mm space.

Accidentally did 52 miles today. Rode into work and then decided to ride to Denmark Hill instead of getting the train. Then rode home. 10+16+26 miles.

I expect you already know this, but for those that are reading and may not know the Cyrillic alphabet, the CHOPT down tube name, is a phonetic spelling of the English word "SPORT".

Show off!
How do you know that? You a spy?

Well in Cyrillic that would be CΠΟΡΤ :-)
It's a really nice bike -- I like the version photographed outside the prison (also, the original gold frame had real charm). I'm impressed @Jonny69 could get a set of original decals for the repainting.

The original lettering was tampo painted on. These are repro decals.
Complicated story getting them though. There was a Russian guy on here selling a restored Takhion for £££££££££. I asked him where he got the decals and he pointed me to a guy in Ukraine just selling them through a webshop. They don’t use PayPal out there and I took a risk with TransferWise, but he was really helpful about it.

Those Takhion bicycles with the integrated fork/stem look great, but the asking prices are something else.
The reproduction decals on your bike turned out well.
Looks pretty cool and clean if you ask me!
Edit: meh, new page fail :P
