Saw this the first time that I watched the TDF in '92. I knew nothing about the rider, but the bike was amazing

My brother had exactly the same GT Zaskar LE when he rode for the Belgian GT Team (think end nineties); was an amazing bike indeed, but I preferred the Xizang LE.

I don't remember lusting after bikes when I was a kid. I guess I was still ignorant (or too busy trying to get my own back after someone stole it). Making up for lost time now though, any time I see a Banesto team bike.

Ha! I remember that photo from the brochure. Fucking hipster. Was thinking the same about a Lizard, thats just what everyone had, not what everyone wanted. Same with the shitty purply Mustang.

I knew there was no chance of a Dune Dancer so I nagged and nagged and nagged my parents for a Yukon. They got me an Amazon. Which was still pretty effing cool. At least it wasn't a Pioneer.

Srsly? You must have got all the girls and had very rich parents.
Admission: I have an ebay search saved for a 17" or 19" Yukon or Dune Dancer. When I get one I'll put 32C gumwall slicks on and use it as a summer tourer.

I had the Mirage.

Out our school the Mirage was considered a bit girly, what with it being a lilac girl's bike and everything.

Sadly had weak girl game and the Yukon got nicked #sadstorybro anyway I thought the Yukon was only mid range in terms of cost?

My mate's dad had a lightning TI when we were kids, all-time dream frame.
Like this one, but with slick tyres and a yellow fork.
As far as I know he still rides it -
