  • WTB Resolutes go on in September; Horizons go on in May.

  • Wet mud is better on relatively deep and open tread. Basically.

  • Very sensible approach. Which leads me onto, anyone out there who thinks this is an aweful approach and wants to sell me their knobbly tyres?

  • mumble mumble mumble...

wanna buy something with these spec:
    650b
    1x
    carbon f+f
    shimano grx
very very black paint scheme or sort of
I would like to avoid Planetx, although their ltd ed Space Chicken with GRX somehow amuse me.

    Any suggestion?
prefer to buy an entire bike ready to go.

  • Vitus look good but I couldn’t get to ride one. A friend has the CX bike and rates it.

There is a 1x version of this but it’s SRAM.

  • still find anything that is shimano 1x grx, carbon f+f, 650b native, under 3k (cycle to work scheme)....
    planetx is not ctws

  • Thread dredge.
What is the current view on advantages/disadvantages of wide 650b over wide 700c on the road, ie not a gravel bike? Asking for a friend

  • They're just wheels. Roll on what you got.

  • Unless you're small, just stick with 700c

  • Unless you already have 650B in which case stick with those.

  • New frame - could use either.

  • You don't have either type of wheels already?

If it's road, then definitely 700C - better tyres for road and far more choice overall.

  • I have various 700c . But they are for rim brakes and this is a disc frame, so I need new wheels anyway. And I want to run wide tyres eg 40 ish. So I guess my question is what are the reasons for choosing 700 x 40c over 650 x 40, or vice versa

  • assuming both fit, obv

  • Whatever you can find a better deal on.
The difference in feel will be in your head :)

  • Any companies out there making Far East fakes of the OPEN?

  • Does that apply to tyres?

  • This is the answer I need

  • better tyres for road

    This

  • Yeah seen a lot of Exploro copies, but I’m after the simpler look of an open

  • I'm thinking of getting some Maxxis refuse tyres - is there anything else I should be considering?

Ideally want a 2.0ish, tubeless ready tyre. Mainly for on the road but with the occasional exploration of I see something interesting.

  • No, tyres should be changed weekly depending on current trend.

Twice a week if you're me.

  • At 47 - WTB horizon, Specialized sawtooth, 50 iirc Donnelly Strada USH, g-one speed or allround if they do it in a small enough size

Haven’t seen anything good about gravelking slicks

  • Thanks - will check them out.
