Wet mud is better on relatively deep and open tread. Basically.

Very sensible approach. Which leads me onto, anyone out there who thinks this is an aweful approach and wants to sell me their knobbly tyres?

Thread dredge.
What is the current view on advantages/disadvantages of wide 650b over wide 700c on the road, ie not a gravel bike? Asking for a friend -
• #2658
They're just wheels. Roll on what you got.
-
• #2659
Unless you're small, just stick with 700c
-
• #2660
Unless you already have 650B in which case stick with those.
-
• #2661
New frame - could use either.
-
• #2662
You don't have either type of wheels already?
If it's road, then definitely 700C - better tyres for road and far more choice overall.

I have various 700c . But they are for rim brakes and this is a disc frame, so I need new wheels anyway. And I want to run wide tyres eg 40 ish. So I guess my question is what are the reasons for choosing 700 x 40c over 650 x 40, or vice versa

I'm thinking of getting some Maxxis refuse tyres - is there anything else I should be considering?
Ideally want a 2.0ish, tubeless ready tyre. Mainly for on the road but with the occasional exploration of I see something interesting.

No, tyres should be changed weekly depending on current trend.
Twice a week if you're me.

At 47 - WTB horizon, Specialized sawtooth, 50 iirc Donnelly Strada USH, g-one speed or allround if they do it in a small enough size

WTB Resolutes go on in September; Horizons go on in May.
