These are cheap and nasty, and can be used with rim brakes:

Remove the decals, and they could do the job. No idea how much they weigh though! I'm tempted to buy a pair to rebuild into my own hubs......

Looking for something like the Surly Midnight special -650b but with fairly roadie geometry - I Like the surly but think the dropouts are a joke. Ideally steel fork as want to build up for road cruising/ bike packing touring capability with gears. Not bothered about tapered head tube
Cotic Escapade V2 would be an option but can't get hold of one. Seqouia seems to fit the bill but seems to be made of lead after reading some reviews.
52cm or there about. Any ideas?

You can simply take the discs of the hubs

What's wrong with them? Simple vertical dropout 142x12 thru axle
-
• #1982
they are 12mm open ended, not threaded, so you can't use proper thru axles (you need the use the bolt jobbies they supply) and if you want to use standard qr you need to run adaptors over the skewers
Just standard surly retrogrouch BS

What's the difference between a 650b straggler and a 700c one in the same size? My 58 700c could comfortable fit some big 27.5 fatties. I kinda assumed the 650 version was jut for smaller riders?

smaller riders

My sequoia is a 58cm, and weighs in at around 28-29lbs with the hunt wheels and horizons....not a lightweight, but not too tubby.
The stock wheels are a bit pants, but you'd be changing those.

Sorry,
which are the deepest alu rims for disc with 32 holes (black please) for a custom build that can accept tyres up to 47 like wtb horizon?
Thanks

yeah but what's actually the difference? Does the 650 have a different geo?
-
• #1991
why would you want deep alu wheels?
-
• #1992
Being poor and have the carbon-look. Perfect match
-
• #1993
you wont find anything decent and deep wheels with big tyres look weird anyway. Deep alu wheels are really heavy

I'm doing a 26 to 650 conversion too, I've used this site:
Sorry for the spam (posted in any question answered thread) but I reckon it is also a relevant thread to ask
Does a wheelset with the following conditions exists off the shelf somewhere on the internet:
EDIT: forgot to mention for 10sp shimano transmission
