This thread is awesome, love the leather chain stay protector, the leather will need a lot of upkeep though if it gets wet and or sweat.
now lets see you make leather hood covers!
P.s I'm also extremely jealous of the workshop setup you and your friends have!

Cool build! What's the weight of the new fork and how does it ride? I'm riding the Kaff with the OG fork and it is heavy as fuck and rides a little dull
I'm using mine as my daily commute: http://bechbox.com/photo/bike/kaffenback/2016/kaffen01.jpg

^ fuck that's nice too though.
Isn't the Kaffen supposed to be a tank though?
-
• #263
Yeah it is, and it gets me there every day all year, but I'm commuting 40km each workday on this fucker and I'm beginning to miss a little more fun and not just stable ;-)

• #264
bankiren, did you see my question about the weight of the new fork?
and how did the bike hold up on your trip?
-
• #267
winter is here and i came over a replacement fork for merida espresso and built the kaffenback up as cheap wintercross.
i dont want to slam the orlowski fork so this was a good and cheap solution for now.
10,64 kg as pictured.

• #268
Cool - thanks!
The winter build looks great! Where did you get the fork?
-
• #269
At my LBS, they had some problem with stock forks on merida espresso and this was the replacement forks from merida :)

If you dont need bigger tires than ~33mm (kojak) try asking omnium (Jumbo) for a short spare fork for the omnium cxc. axel-to-crown 370mm, rake
45mm38mm, iso disc taps. This would make the bike less dull. You can buy it as a spare. But ask for the short version.
I have got one. about 900-1000grams, straight legs, steel. I will get a picture up later...

damn, that omnium frameset with discs are nice!
-
• #272
@svendhöek thanks for the heads up! It seems like a winner
That CXC frame is mighty fine too!!

The fork with a 28mm rubino pro (24mm high from rim edge):
There is 32mm from the rim to the bottom of the fork. -
• #274
Cool - thanks dude! :-)

Thanks for the heads up about the cxc forks! I contacted omnium. 110 euros for the forks, he said the rake is 38mm.
This bike is slowly turning into:
One of the more interesting Current Projects threads.
Edit: Hm, new page. Kinda screwing up your thread, @bankiren. Can delete the picture if you want.
