Woo new fork for the pomp! Also don't like these miche cranks with their ass BCD and chainline is wayyyyy off (can't put narrower bb because it would hit the chainstay), and stumbled upon sram force cranks so will put those on too. Also freewheel, brakes and 42c smart sams for winter.
...Being a lorry driver can sometimes mean shitton of hours, which translates to some loose cash, so i think i have most of the parts needed for rych on order now. Hopefully everything arrives next week. Stay tuned

Some progress on both projects:
Mostly done, brakes were all sorts of wonky with this wide rims, gotta look into that. Maybe kool stop slimline pads would do the trick. Arundel stainless cages waiting at the post office. After that i can start dialing everything in.
Pompino got more crabon, bigger tyres for winter and brakes + halo clickster cog. Have to get 39t for winter, 42/17 feels soooooo big. Steerer choppage and bar plugging happening in near future too.

Or a slimmer spacer for brake pads?
Saw the progress on instagram; looks very good! Similar to my Macho Man with a front mech.

I tried, but even then i can get them straight enough. Those original pads are 6mm thicker than slimlines, worth a try i guess.
-
• #57
I have a pair of unused slimlines .. where are you based?

Trackbike utopia, also known as Finland.
I guess it's time to fill order to Germany again.I wonder if bike24 is soon starting to think me as their regular...

Postal office has lost my package, so no bottle cages for me as of yet. Ordered those slimline pads made of salmon ":D", and some cheep turbo trainer so i can get some miles in winter and gain förstemann-legs during the dark months.

well fuck.
even slimlines won't fit. Tried with narrower rim, barely fits. Fork too narrow? :D Emailed rychtarski, waiting for answer. Bummer.
e: as a plus side, got my arundel ss cages and smaller chainring for pomp.

Fork too narrow?
Maybe .. bummer.
The crown doesent look like a CX/Touring one.How is the rear?
-
• #62
Rear is fine, just have to sort out brake squealing but frame is ok.
-
• #63
Fork definitely looks narrow.

Thought so. Well, waiting for his answer, hopefully he'll make me a new fork. Good thing i'm not in a hurry this being my summer steed and all...
-
• #66
I don't want to change brakes, and i don't think it would make any difference since it's about brake pad not fitting between the rim and the fork leg
-
• #67
Lucky it's just the fork... he's not doing well with the last three custom frames on the forum is he!
-
• #68
I'll look at mine when I'm home but I feel like the crown is even thinner than mine and mine isn't even specced for V's.
-
• #69
Yeah...shame. Before ordering i'd heard only good things about him, but now he seems to have some issues with latest orders.
-
• #70
maybe he has to many orders which results in less quality control
-
• #71
Not sure if there's some standards to it, but my other bikes have canti studs about ~78mm apart from each other, in this bike they are 70mm in the back and only 63mm at front...
-
• #72
Ok panic over, he's making me a new fork
e: unfortunately he doesn't have crowns to do straight bladed cx fork like i originally wanted, so new one is gonna be with bended legs. I'm starting to think this is gonna look almost exatly like psee's one...

nice!

Here we go. All good now. I thought about having a lowrider mounts a looong while when i ordered the frameset, but in the end i decided not to (for the clean linez and shit). But since he effed that fork up and i was gonna have a new fork, i decided what the heck, i shall have my rack mounts now. I reckon low rider + seat pack should be plenty for my light travels.

Had wcs fork for a while, and while it was super light, it was also a freaking noodle. Ordered custom one from Orlowski, 120€ well spent.
Minor update - installed rest of the parts i have for now (excluding rear der), including small bits and bolts. Seems like winter is lurking around corner so this build will go to a small hiatus - getting more bits and pieces here and there, but i have no hurry to build this up before next spring.
Seems like i've ran out of kojaks, so will see if i just get new pair of those or something else to try, would like to test out gb/compass tyres to see if they're up to hype but will see...
Cat tree best workstand
Sneaky edit: topic name change, tought it would be better to have one thread for all my projects i'll be working on instead of making new ones for every damn bike 8)
