  • are you serious? Lift your back wheel up as you go if it really is that high. Doesn't look any more likely to get hit than a 48+ chainring

  • I guess you're right. Also thinking about it,if it ever gets hit from something in front, most of it will just spring backwards.

  • If you are going to the effort of building a frame that’s dedicated to a bottom bracket mount gearbox you build the rear of the bike with chain tensioning capability. Right?

This. The dangly tensioner is meant for full suspension bikes, where you have to allow for chain length variation under compression.

  • By way of redress I had posted a poor photograph of my bike a while ago here's a better one.

  • Looks great. What chainring is that?

  • Having spent nearly two weeks solid on this bike. Still love it.

Only thing id change is BSA BB.

And maybe more clearance at the fork but that's my fault for squeezing in 2.1s. Mid trip had a prang and wheel was out of true. Had to chop some of the knobbles off it so it would spin without running until I could true it.

  • I've got SRAM Force HRD on my my bike and when I get on it the rear lever pulls all the way to the bar and then after a few squeezes settles back to it's normal position, the front lever also does this but not quite to the extreme. I've bled them and plenty of air came out but it didn't resolve the problem, does any one have any advice?

  • Fit some Shimanos?

    Sorry.

  • Fit some Shimanos.

    Not sorry.

  • @cake - are those the sub-compact absolute black chainrings? How are you finding them?

  • yep. great.
Honestly notice no difference with the ovals, but bought purely because of the ratios and ease of use on a shimano chainset.

Had some praxis sub compacts before but the BB just shat itself after 300 miles twice.

Now have a wheels manufacturing BB with shimano cranks and those rings in a 46/30 and am happy as a clam. Can spin up pretty much anything.

  • @cake what range you running on then cassette?

  • Only thing id change is BSA BB.

if only you'd know the person in charge of making these design decisions ..

  • LoL he didn't design that one.

The BB he recommended is working just fine though.

I also owe him about seven tire plugs after the tires forewarned me were fragile had a 'few' punctures.

  • Are the fork mounted bottles just voilee strapped straight on? Or are there cages attached?

  • I use these.

Had cages before but given how much of a twat I ride like and how much I crash I found these perfect for my needs.

  • This might not be what you want to hear but bleed them again. Give the hoods a good few taps with a spanner to move any small bubbles that might still be trapped.
I've bled brakes only to get back on the bike and find that they inexplicably still feel shite. A pain in the tits but a re-bleed almost always sorts it.

  • So, question for you, did you honest feel the lack of a clutch mech?

Weighing up getting the R7000 RD vs the new GRX RDs. Pretty sure the former could handle a 11-36 adequately, which paired with a 46/30 should be more than adequate gearing.

  • I have r8000 on my cx bike.. chain chatters a lot.

Rx800 going on soon. R8000 for the road bike

  • Wash your mouth out @amey

  • no.

I have clutched mech on my MTBs and notice no difference.

As @amey and @Alb will attest to, I know nothing about bikes I just ride them until they break, which I manage to do often. And whilst I'm happy to throw cash at upgrades I see no need to at present

  • Pressfit, more like pooshit. BSA best BB.
