  • Ah. That's an odd one

  • A ruddy annoying odd one that scuppered my original plan.
VIA GT could be the magic bullet though.
If not I'll have to get a smaller cassette to widen my choices of mech replacement.

  • sorry if i'm missing something, but why do you need a 1X clutch mech if you're running a double?

  • Don't think he does, just that he wants to use a big cassette and is therefore considering a mtb mech which mostly come with clutches these days

  • There a few factors at play that are up thread.

  • Total cage capacity might be your only sticking point with 11-40 and two chainrings.

Just realised I'm under the cage capacity as I'm running a sub compact up front that only has a 10 tooth difference.

  • It's only rated to 34t max, but I'm using it with 36t without any need to faff about with the B-tension screw or owt.

This also varies on the derailleur hanger that come with the bike, for instance, Cannondale for some reason have a very short hanger on their CAAD12 that even 11-28t rub when the b-screw is all the way in.

  • Didn’t have my B screw all the way in at all with 28t on the 12
    But I get your point

  • Selling my Arkose frameset if anyone is interested. Classified ad here:

  • Any recommendations for good deals on 32h 650b rims? Kinlin TL23 are £40 apiece generally and Race Face Arc 27 are a few quid cheaper on Wiggle/CRC but probably not worth the saving. PX have Pacenti TL28 for £10, but in 28h flavour only.

  • PX also have WTB KOM i21 in 32h for £15 each and only 400g, picked a couple of them and the Pacenti yo during the week because they were crazy cheap

  • getting one of those D3s

  • what frame pump is this?

  • Topeak one, painted to match the frame.

  • Hi all. Hope this is the right place to post. Transitioning from 10 years of FGSS to gravel (massively influenced by DKlien). Selling my 8 bar on the classifieds, can’t afford two steeds. Looking for a new bike.

Love the kenisis ti, the Bombtrack hook ext and the Genasis Crux de fur ti but as compleat bikes they are a bit out of my price range. Want to aim for a min of shim 105 or shram rival. Budget of about £1000.00 maybe could push a little more. Understand that I may need to look at used or refurbished but no idea where to start looking with gravel. Don’t want to get a bike only to want to upgrade it in a months time. Any direction (good classified spots) or tips? Wondering if this might need to be a used components build with a few fresh items on it?

  • Just get an Arkose, mate.

  • Get an alloy bike with 105 or apex 1. Canyon, Arkose, Vitus or Ribble all them are reasonably priced and good equipped bikes.

  • Arkose, Triban, Ribble CGR, Brother Kepler.. to name the obvious few.

Checkout the geo charts, I'm going to go Ribble as it seems to have the most relaxed stack/reach (and I just want a frameset).

  • I saw a Ribble CGR Al last week used in a road bike (hill climb!) setup and it looked great

  • Pretty happy with this setup

  • Looks nice, what size is that?

  • Cheers guys super helpful! Think I’m going to look in to the Canyon, Ribble and Vitus. The Canyon looks particularly sweet, but that Vitus looks like it would do the trick @Netakure
