I had tent, sleeping bag, mat, pillow and tools in/strapped to my Carradice at the weekend. Worth considering?

Full frame bag or saddle bag ( what ever style you prefer Restrap/ PDW / carradice), you could just use a Carradice support and strap it on that in its bag.
If you must use a rear rack get Tubus with the disc adaptors, or even a disc specific one.

What's that? For the life of me I can't work out what the logo says.

Rear racks are for old men who keep changing the name of the threads they start.

Tubus Disco is good tho.

I put a Tortec Ultralite on mine. Probably should have gone for black - tempted to rattle can it darker at least.

Any particular models?

Ya

Ha I knew you'd say that :)
I am open to bike packing though because I'd rather not have the weight of a rack and I could use the setup (or some of it) on my road bike too.
I need to look into bag options more.

What's your rear spacing? That's the rack I have (although I did go for black) but there didn't seem to be any way it would fit onto my 145mm rear spaced frame...
Is it me or is that not level btw?!

Good eye! Was going to say something about the yard not being level and angles weird but just checked and yeah, the retention bolts were loose and it had slid back a bit :)
I really wish rack vendors would state the distance between the mount points. "Disc compatible" could mean anything, and usually means it's super wide, or set back to go around seat-stay mounted calipers.
Anyway, the mounting points on this frame are 170mm apart and it's a 142x12 (135 spaced?) dropout. The ultralite is a tight fit - maybe it's intended for pre-disc 130 spacing - but it's acceptable to me. Just a bit of tension when removing or installing which I don't intend to ever do again. Feels rock solid on the frame. I use it with pannier during the week and will make a top bag for weekends.

Old news to some perhaps but new news to me, famous disc-grouches Thorn of all people have a gravel bike:
Probably comes with a floppy disc containing a PDF on why you should have bought the rim brake model.

• #3770
I'm not sure a PDF would fit on a 5 1/4 inch

1.44MB on a 3.5 inch disc is enough for something not too image heavy.
