  • You know when you have something new and clean and you don't want to get the first dirt on it?

    I'm like that with everything. It's why I buy new kit and then don't wear it until the old stuff is basically hanging off me in threads and by this stage I need different kit again because the newer kit has died in the cupboard or something.

    Even with mudguards on the Crux, I'm loathe to debut it this weekend given the shit I rode through last weekend.

    Not a hub motor, a hub compressor so you adjust tire pressure on the fly.

  • If you aren’t prepared to get dirty, you shouldn’t be riding off road in the UK.

  • Crux is probably the cheapest decent/carbon grav bike on the market atm. Lots and places selling the mechanical one for £2500, considering it’s also pretty much the only bike around that price that comes with half decent wheels and tyres that don’t need instantly upgrading, I’d say it’s the grav bike if the people. Marx would ride a crux

  • Yep that.. and I've spent about 2.5hrs on it. I'm still trying to work out if I like the saddle or not.

    New bike, new position, new saddle, new shoes. I'd rather do a few shorter rides that don't involve hotels and trains before committing to riding this.

    Let's be clear, most people don't try and do a 400k as their shakedown ride, especially not on a brand new setup. I did it once with a 600k before TCR but at least I'd had a bike fit and I'd been riding similar setup for the months leading up to it.

  • Actually, how are people running short saddles like the Spesh Power? Nose flat, nose down? With it flat it seems the ramp at the back kinda makes me lean forward and end up on the nose of the saddle anyway.

    I might go back to an Adamo on it but I thought I'd give the short, stock saddle a go first.

  • Specialized power should be max 1,5 degree nose down and thats how I run it

  • Mine's slightly nose up, if anything and there's a bit too much "ball pressure" for my liking. I was going to drop the nose slightly and maybe shift it forward a bit.

    Flat based on the rails or based on the top of the saddle? Because it has a flat nose and a ramped up back.
