I can snap a pic when I test ride a S (52) next weekend if it's any help.

Price is great, but 2 kg each :/ I am currently looking for both kind of wheelsets, but most likely will just buy 700c now and 650b later so they can be lighter.

Do not post a ti singlespeed cross bike
I'll wait until SSCXEU. Bound to be a few there :-)

Have one in the shop, also have 650b wheel, will check on Monday but clearance is tight with the stock 28mm in the fork.
-
• #2631
Can you check for me? That would be great. Seems like a lot of bike for the $ and I need a gravely workhorse
-
• #2632
Will do, but I would look at the Ventura Comp also, good value and the brakes aren't bad.
-
• #2633
The grey/black version? Yeah the more stealth the better as it’s going to be a lock up bike. Can it do a child seat?
-
• #2634
I reckon so, the cheaper Comp also come with a full carbon fork which is a little unheard of, so the frame is pretty identical bar the components, it's being 9 speed mean cheaper to service, and compatible with the older Shimano 9 speed stuff, square taper simply mean that you probably not gonna replace it anytime soon (that if you look after it only 5% better than the majority of my customers).

Hah yeah still have the original taper BB in my Flyer - from 2009.
-
• #2638
That’s nice but no frameset option and I don’t want to pay £800 to end up with a load of low end Shimano crap I can’t get rid of.

Gonna be way out of budget sadly. I’d love to give her something more personalised. The arkose is £260 new so hoping more in that price range.
Surly straggler 650b is nice but typically long and low and too many braze ons for this build

• #2640
£260 does not buy much "personalised" :(
-
• #2641
Exactly. Sadly.

What does she ride now?
I making something similar to what you want for my partner, but in steel and for 26" wheels.
I would not disregard steel. It is not necessarily heavier than off the peg alu things with stock componentry.
How about vintage steel tourer with added disc tabs and custom forks? Might allow you to find suitable geometry as they are often custom to previous owner. IMO correct geo is more important than low weight -

An ill-fitting Look made into a town bike. It’s too long and low at the front, a bit high at the back and much too flexy.
She’s done fine on it for a year but in time for next winter I’d like to get her something proper, fat tyres, full guards, dyno lights. She’s interested in trying drop bars out too.

Vintage tends to be square and I was thinking more compact geo for standover with enough stack. Not against the idea but I just would have liked it to be cool and modern, tapered carbon forks etc.
One of those curvy seat tubes you’ve done would look awesome on a tiny gravel shredder -

Low end Shimano 'crap' works perfectly fine

• #2646
Yes but £££

Of course but we’d all be riding sora and deore if that was our only concern.
I’ve got a Sram groupset sat waiting already -
• #2648
No doubt. Maybe I’ll be able to build my own too one day haha

Haven't bought many of their clothes, but have been happy with all the other gear I've bought from them; decent quality and and good bang for your buck.

I feel like having such a fat tyre means fork material is not a big concern? Other than from a weight perspective.
Doesn’t look very custom
