stood on your heated tile floor you feel the heat through your Pas Normal socks to gently warm your toes with coffee in hand. A lovely single origin you've been dialing all week between work calls and meetings, finally got that "pommegranite" note coming through.

you joyfully whisper to yourself, placing the stonewhere mug on the slate coaster which addorns a reclaimed mid century gplan dining table.
a few stretches and you're reminded of how much nicer the pas normal bibs feel over the standard rapha proline (it's really not the same since..), only to straigtent out and saunter over the the autoprogettazione chair you built as a lockdown project. all to slip into the addidas gravel shoes picked up last weekend, you like them because they don't look like your normal road shoes, you can walk around in them a bit and they don't look too out of place at the cafe stop.
you really hate to look like "a cyclist". it's why you made the switch to wearing a merino tee and japanese flannel on the top half, functional and fashionable. even if the lads down the club call you the black pearl as it billows in the wind like some battleship sail.
anyway it's getting late and the partner will be up soon

woods cyclry had just finished building this one up for you, a stunner.
ritchey ascent, sunset fade. a head turner to say the least. you wanted to give this gravel thing a go but didn't want to half arse it, you have enough bikes to not need a bad one. it's not to say the shop didn't have to twist your arm into springing for that white industries crank, maybe the ultra dynamico tyres. the hope brakes and chris king wheels tho? you wanted to try these for a while and this was a perfect exscuse.
rolling it through to the drive and that ratchet engaging on the free wheel you know it was worth it. like twisting the bezel of a submariner the shop lad said, he wasn't wrong as you looked down to check the the time.
at the car you have to hoist it up, you're expecting the worst, seems twice the size of your super six

I mean, all the PasNormal bits check out, but there need to be some edits to the living situation; I live solo, no heated floor any more (really miss that), barely have a front door let alone a side, and all the bikes live in the “study”.
Plus - I’m just not “cool” enough for a submariner (“cool” = not lucky enough to have been gifted one / picked one up when I was 12 / point blank refuse to pay more than list price for something equal/possibly lesser than other less twat-hype alternatives).
Also going to throw this out - DTSwiss 54T > CK.
Oh and the car was an E39 Alpina B10….Otherwise, alarmingly accurate.
