  • TLDR from the last 100 pages is that gravel bikes are for the summer or America and MTBs are for winter?

  • You can just ride the gravel bikes on the road in winter though :)

  • Anything that's good in the mud will be shit on the road, this is a fact.

    Agreed.

If you want to travel ‘quickly’ around any loop that has UK mud in the next few months though it’s wise to tyre-up for the slowest sections (the mud).

  • hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

  • Unless they don't have mudguards?

It's so hard to know what bikes I'm supposed to be buying

  • The greatest trick the gravel bike ever pulled was convincing the world
    mudguards were unnecessary.

  • It's so hard to know what bikes I'm supposed to be buying making for @Tijmen

  • mud guards make bikes look slow - fact.

  • Mudguards are a clogfest this time of the year. Pretty good for road.

  • GRX IS SHIT

  • 1x is shit

  • gravel is teh shit

  • don't need mudguards when ur gravel bike is on the turbo

  • just sweat guards

  • arnie, thinking to himself: "is this shit from a butt"

  • I was reading about Mount Elbrus recently, found out about this cool new tech. Next big thing for UK gravel?

In August 1998 a group of climbers from the Karachai-Cherkess Republic were the first in history to climb Mount Elbrus with horses. The horses were Imbir, Daur and Khurzuk, of the Karachai breed, fitted with special horseshoes with removable steel spikes. The organiser of the climb was Klych-Gery Urusov. Six people reached the eastern summit: three Karachai horsemen (Dahir Kappushev, Mohammed Bidzhiev, Murat Dzhatdoev) and three mountaineers (Boris Begeulov, Umar Bairamukov, Leila Albogachieva (Ingush nationality)), with two of the three horses (Daur and Khurzuk).

  • Imbir, Daur and Khurzuk

    Hard af sounding horsenames

  • Wow, that's shit. Says this on the website:

    ROAD BOOST TECHNOLOGY

Our hub standard ROAD BOOST ensures optimal shifting, with minimal wear and noise for our E-road bikes. The bottom brackets of our E-road bikes are slightly wider due to the engines and thereby move out the chainrings. This makes the chainline less than ideal. Therefore, our ROAD BOOST hubs are wider as well and line up the cassette with the chainrings, so the chain runs perfectly again. At the same time, the wider hubs provide additional stiffness to the wheels, and as a result a better riding performance and higher durability.

So they've fucked up the normal bike by moving it to the new "standard" of 110×12 and 148×12, for which there are surely absolutely zero OTP wheelsets, in order to reduce wear on the e-bike? Bizarre.

Looks good apart from that though...

  • will there not be plenty of OTP MTB wheelsets ? no OTP sets with teh_aeros though, I'm sure, though how needed those are on a gravel/gravé/gnarmac/horse I'm not sure

  • Wait until the "just get a hardtail" gang hear about "e-bikes"

  • will there not be plenty of OTP MTB wheelsets

    Not in 110x12

  • Focus is shit?

  • You'd hope that would be a simple end cap swap

  • could you complain and try to get them swapped for 105/ultegra shifters ? not sure if they're compatible with the rest of the group tho

The 11 speed stuff is interchangeable (with the caveat that it's recommend to pair the GRX chainset with the GRX front derailleur).
