His description is very long.
I admire his resolve and commitment, but editing is not one of his strengths.

Not sure what is standard in hubs and QR these days for gnarmac bikes but I have the hubs I ran on my CAAD12 for sale- DTSwiss 240S, IS disc mount, 10mm RWS skewers (fit a conventional QR frame) and an 11 speed Shimano/SRAM free hub.

+1 for this. They’re excellent. Plus the green I got them in during the sale is very on point

I'll take the plunge in spring I think. My velcro ones really are on their last legs.

Are there any good overshoes for 2 bolt shoes?

Ritchey megabites?
I'm looking at them as my specialized tracers aren't up to current riding conditions and may as well go as wide as I've room for. -

Looking forward to this going up on The Radavist.

Have friends raving about Maxxis Ravagers as 'Nanos but better'. Look pricey though.

Looking forward to this going up on The Radavist.
I would seriously be disappointed if it wasn’t.

I can't deal with that gcn video, why don't we focus on what the gravel thread does best, arm chair debate on what great to buy.
http://www.singularcycles.com/our-products/peregrine/ peregrine pre order is up with the final Geo (have to keep scrolling to find it)
Does anyone have any thoughts on how it would compare, handling wise to a pipedream ALICE? https://www.pipedreamcycles.com/shop/a-l-i-c-e-frame-fork/
Alice seems to be a lot more upright, but I don't understand anything about fork Geo. Alice is 70 degrees Vs 71 on the pez?
Peregrine also looks to have a mid trail fork, like a fairlight Faran.

Because I know you're all on tenterhook, I ordered Vittoria Saguro TNT 27.5" x 2.00 because the 2.1 was a bit close for me to just destroy a tyre on one ride. I'll save that for the rear. The Saguro should have enough clearance to deal with wheel, fork flex. Still tempted to talc the forks and run the 2.1 just to see how much rubbing is going on.

Mid trail? The rake is high trail according to the geo (mid would be 50-60mm)

this is like showing someone an acronym coat side by side with a rohan jacket, they both do the same job, the acr just costs more, looks better and has some nerdy useless details, also the people who own them take great lifestyle photography. those who own a rohan jacket just look like people....going outside? maybe wearing a coat? hard to have an aspirational day dream about that
you would be happy with the rohan waterproof if you needed a coat to help with the rain, but you and me both know you have 20 other waterproof coats sitting in your shed...uh....wardrobe, so if you want to buy something, make it worth buying otherwise dig out another coat you already own.

pipedream ALICE
29 x 2.3" clearance surely wins here, according to the current gravel rules
-
• #15221
No good to me, I wouldn't go thinner than 2.35.
-
• #15222
2.6 is the bare minimum for "proper gravel".
2.8" if you want to 'get rad'.
3" is your best friend's width.
5" is what your Nan rides. -
• #15223
But the one with the horizontal top tube. Easy

I’d take Rohan over Acronym everyday of the week. Great stuff. I aspire to own the insulated Bags one day.

29 x 2.3" clearance
I have doubts over this because I dont trust 'bike industry'.
When singular says clearance for 2.1 does that mean tyre and mud?
OR When pipedream says 2.3, is that tyre with EU dust clearance? Please answer @BareNecessities
+1 for giro privateer lace. Stiff enough for riding, yet fine for walking, look decent and are comfortable. I use mine for road and MTB and in my opinion it does both really well, I don't have any criticism of them.
