For me a ten degree flare is barely noticeable. Cowchippers have 24degree which seems more ergonomic

Only the carbon one. I have the Al Grail which has normal bars. @Zed in XS if that is useful.

I have used it with my Pickenflick (customer support swapped the stock bar for this one at no cost), flare is very slight, but still noticeable. Nice if you want a position still very much resembling the road bike, otherwise look for something with a bigger flare.

All my bike are fitted with H.A.T.E (hippy's anti theft exoskeleton) rendering them fully functional but fucking fugly.

Hm, sounds like I should go for something with a bit more flare?
Can anyone recommend a decent bar at around £20-40?

On one Midge/Alpkit Bombers suit me well, but some folks don't get on with the short extension at the bottom of the drops.
Ritchey Venturemax look like a good option. I'm also interested in the range from PRO (Shimano), who do theirs in three (I think) levels of flare.https://whatbars.com/ is useful for comparison.

12 and 30 degree (20 degree on the carbon)

I nearly got the pro bars but there were some profile ones on offer, which I like, cheap and low flare, I don't like the angle higher flare ones put the hoods, where I spend 99% of my time. Someone I work with recently got the pro ones, they seemed a nice shape from my brief play and she liked them for her first proper ride on them/the whole bike recently, they were the lower flare option.

Woodchippers have a longer extension in the drop and a (possibly) similar shape. Very ugly though, so much so I'm considering swapping mine out.

Are mechanical discs really as bad/pointless as they've made out be? I hate the size of hydraulic mechanical shifters and feel like i should either stump up the cash to go di2 disc or just embrace mechanical disc and run a more budget/mechanic friendly setup with mechanical discs. What are peoples thoughts on here?

Should have had an RS1 to stick with the upside down theme.

RS1
so heavy .. compared to the SID ultimate on that ^^

They look sick though, just like the dropper.

Curious about this one too. Everyone told me hydraulic is worth it so that's what I got. Would be interesting to know how much difference there actually is though

I had some Hy/Rd's which worked really well, the only real downside was the lever pull was long so you'd be nearly hitting them into the bars before they grabbed and they didn't have as good modulation as hydro discs. The lever pull itself felt a little gritty like a lot of calliper brakes do, but hydro in comparison are perfectly smooth, much less resistance. I think it depends a lot on your cable routing maybe even more so than caliper brakes.
Hydros are definitely better but the mechanical ones stopped really well and in heavy rain too, unlike calipers.

@Sumo yes i wouldn't deny the obvious stopping benefits of hydraulic but can't imagine mechanical is that bad right? We're talking about a 'gravel' bike that is used more for commuting with the odd weekend gravel ride thrown in so i guess my point is well, are hydraulic brakes necccesary or could i sacrifice the braking performance a bit for some more comfort on the hoods

I've got some TRP Spyres which are perfectly funcitonal for commuting with the odd weekend ride thrown in. You can adjust the pad spacing too with a little allen key which solves the long lever pull before biting issue.

Yeah but rs1s are sick!!

Honestly I was really happy with the Hy/Rd calipers. It was nice not having to buy new levers and everything else too.

Is that a dropper ???!!!!
Woah

Not in my opinion.
I had a run of really bad luck with leaky hydros - partially my own fault for bargain hunting on ebay but then i did try some brand new shimanos and they ended up leaking too - so now am sworn off hydros. I've got bb7s on my mtb (about to change to bb5 road so i can fit drops) and on the front of one of my fixed bikes and a Shimano mechanical on the front of my cargo bike and never feel like I'm left in need of stopping power.
I tried Spyres a while ago but was pretty underwhelmed, BB7 would be my goto.
