You’ve become a parody of yourself lately

I knew you’d hate me for calling restrap superdry!

Weird flex.

Any opinions on Veloci no.11 forks?
Not sure I can justify say the extra 150 for something like the full carbon fyxation.

• #10481
Also interested in this - I've struggled finding carbon forks with all the mounts and the right rake, the no.11 forks tick most these boxes.
I was considering these Selcof forks - https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/FOSEGV2/selcof-carbon-gravel-fork (no mounts) but there's little feedback on them?

Fresh build: Bombtrack Arise 2020. For anyone considering buying this frameset: no Shimano disc brake group will fit outright as they are all flat mount, so one has to improvise.

By getting a flat to post adaptor?
-
• #10484
I chose this improvisation. Adapters I found are silly expensive.

Edit; you mean shimano drop bar groupset sometime come with flat mount, got you.

all the time, in my experience.
I really don't understand Bombtrack bringing out this frame with post mount. GRX won't even fit.
-
• #10487
Post mount rocks, fuck flat mount.
-
• #10488
All cheaper steel frames come with flat mounts. Genesis, brother, surly, etc. I guess it's cheaper to weld an IS mount to two tubes than to manufacture one with flat mounts.

Get you, the Arise were made both flat bar and drop bar as well, so kinda make sense why it's like that.
However at the same time no reason why you can't have flat mount with post mount adaptor for flat bar. -
• #10490
Also no reason you can’t put a deore caliper on instead.
-
• #10491
Arise is not expensive, I don't quite get your point. Did you mean to write 'all cheaper steel frames come with post mounts'?
-
• #10492
Technically, it is no problem at all.
Thing is, all complete Shimano disc brake group sets with drop bar levers come with flat-mount calipers. Ordering parts is more expensive than ordering a complete group set.
-
• #10493
I think it is an oversight from Shimano only speccing flat mount calipers when so many frames aren't flat mount compatible.
-
• #10494
I feel like I read something from either the fairlight or mason designer about how flat mount is a huge PITA compared to IS mount when you're dealing with the manufacturing of steel frames. because of tolerances etc
-
• #10495
Which is good for the customer.
-
• #10496
No idea, just that we might have to expect it to be more expensive than IS.
-
• #10497
If a company moans about tolerances its because they can no longer get away with being sloppy. Good for us although they're likely to pass on a premium as you say
-
• #10498
From my experience you just get frames that need huge amounts of facing..
-
• #10499
We use R875 calipers to get around this
-
• #10500
More expensive tho.
You are making a joke aren't you?!
