I can't help, but any reason why? I have a sscx bike and can't really see the need for an oval ring.

Word on the street is that it helps with the hills.
Willing to give it a go etc

Just cut the chain to size in where it's longer in the chainring rotation.
-
• #10205
Yep will do.
More after do I replace a 38t with a 38 oval, or do I need a 40 for it to be the same?

Any recommendations for new tyres for the Arkose. Its just for commuting and winter riding I don't go near gravel. I'm leaning towards less knobbly tyres maybe like the Teravails?

Marathon supremes.

If they rebrand marathon supremes as G-One Supremes they would sell so many of them.

Any reason not to get a bombtrack arise 2, apart from not having through axles?
Edit: 2019 model on sale. Just saw the 2020 has TA.

• #10210
They do have thru axles.

TBF thru axles while are brilliant, there are no reason why the QR one is an issues since a shimano skewer suffices in keeping the wheels nice and secure.

I have a KT dyno hub, got 2 years of good miles on it, all good so far. SP I had before the KT was getting loose by this stage (cursed it now haven't I..).

15 -> 12mm is just a sleeve that goes into the hub you can get from all over the place (think mine was off ebay). The SP TA->QR converter is a little bit funkier with machined high and low bits presumably for where the bearings are at.

If you want it to be better on the hills get the same size. If you size up you'll need to check it is going to fit, I've less than a mm on my bike that takes 43mm tyres and I'm running a 42t.

Mine never comes out of the dynamo and the dynamo gets shoved into most of my bikes at some stage. It sits flush with the hub so if it doesn't fit in a fork then neither will the hub.

The Alfine model is currently at a pretty decent discount straight from source, too...

its dropped £200 quid since i got one in October last year.

Only M and XL left. Trying to convince myself the extra 10mm reach compared to the L won't be a problem...
-
• #10223
Or only 11mm less reach for the Medium...
-
• #10224
The stems are pretty short, so 10mm extra there wouldn't hurt too much.
Or, @russmeyer make me an offer on my 2nd large matt grey one:

Well well well. Will reply in the sales thread so as not to derail here.
Gonna set my SSCX bike up with an oval ring, so I need to size up 2 teeth, or like for like?
Anyone got experience? Seems pretty divided..
