  • The jacket is probably comfy and he's probably always liked it. Better than having PR and stylists dress you.

  • Na, I reckon he's got a whole team to get that charity shop look just so. Probably chills at home in a two-stripe tracksuit and some nice comfy trainers.

  • Haven't read this as its too long but Twitter seem to be lapping it up... #TheCorbyn

Alot of people say this about articles posted on this thread, and elsewhere. There was a show on R4 yesterday about how computer and internet use reduces our attention span, and affects our ability to retain knowledge as there is no need to memorise anything if information is readily available at the click of a button. I hope Corbyn comes up with some decent education policies to get kids reading books again.

Btw I only got through half that article...

    LIKE CASTRO.

  • Was it one of the Computing Britain episodes? I can't see it specifically mentioned in the schedule. I'd like to listen to it.

  • I read it and it shows some 'anonymous' members of the PLP to be total cunts. Arrogant, dismissive and probably in the wrong party.

  • I'm watching his speech live on tv, stumbled upon it. It's a good speech. He delivers it well. He's comes across as not just principled and authentic, but reasonable, pragmatic and uber democratic. I look forward to the bizarre coverage in the newspapers.

  • Yep, he's killing it.
'Politics not governed by and tailored to the media.'

  • that is just begging for a soundbite like "Media-ocracy leads to mediocrity" - meme waiting to be born!

  • Great speech. First time, I think, that I have watched a whole hour of a contemporary political speech without becoming irritated or bored. Un patronising, genuinely funny at times, moral but not self righteous. And good politicing at the beginning, trying to draw his leadership rivals closer. And that second hand jacket he insists on wearing actually goes quite nicely with a dark red tie.

  • Steve Bell....

  • Yeah, it was a great speech. Not that you would have known it from the comments afterwards. The prize prick on Politics Today described it as being "incredibly underwhelming, and I had very low expectations to begin with" or something to that effect. And he was a Labour spin doctor!

  • He was pretty decent on this morning's Today program too. No grandstanding, no evasion, no overwrought Blair/Cameron style acting, just sounded like a reasonable bloke.

  • I've just joined the party, based in part on that speech

  • I've been considering it as well.

  • David Cameron:

"I would use nuclear weapons at least three times a week"

  • and he used Chairmen of the Board - Working On A Building of Love as the soundtrack to his stage exit - nice one Jezza

  • The red moon during the Labour conference was like the icing on the cake. Someone should record all the portents in a new Bible, with JC as the main protagonist of the New Testament, and the Old Testament featuring such prophets as Keir Hardie. Hang on--they might want to rewrite the ending, too.

  • Gosh that's bigger than I expected.
