  • Mow Cop in cheshire average 11-12% but has a decent stretch at 25% and has killed me a couple of times. its a proper grind even though its very short.

But caerphilly climb at the end of the velothon did me in, I wasnt expecting it to be hard and was duly found out. I had to stop at about 2/3rds up to let the black spots clear from in front of my eyes, jumped back on and finished incredibly slowly. I dont even think it was that steep really i would guess about 10% most of the way.

  • A quick google has it at 8.5%, I must have been tired.

  • @Greenbank it is one way down only but traffic is very rare and many have attempted it.

    Fuk da Heddlu.

  • I won't ask for the translation ! Lol

  • Cheers,

I may check that one out next time I'm going that way ; )

  • Did this last week - https://www.strava.com/segments/1376287 - which isn't by any stretch of the imagination the hardest climb around, but it's tough. More significantly, it's the climb that formed the back of the 1980 World Championship RR which Hinault won. Apparently it was brutal - only something like a 17km circuit, so god knows how many times they went up it. I imagine by the 10th ascent your legs would be screaming rather a lot.

  • This:

May have been it, Henfold Lane - Surrey.

Luckily its about 25 metres long!

  • How about an LFGSS.CC HC up Swains Lane in October?

Any Tuesday, with a warm welcome at the Flask to follow?

If there is any desire I think we can do a rehash of 'Swaintoux'
