  • I just whipped mine all off for stealth / prefer brands etc not being "on show"

I do like seeing them a bit beaten, nice to see things being used!

I think practical cycles keep all the options in stock for replacements

  • Same here. FattiesFitFine is the first to go.. awful in my opinion.. headbadge and downtube surly branding are next. I don't much mind the model name, but don't much mind if they get damaged. After a respray...no decals of any sort for me...

Depends how fancy and new you like your bike to look.

  • Yeah de stickered my Disc Trucker straight away, so much nicer and cleaner.

  • I've had mine powdercoated a load of times and reapplied the decals myself each time, though have taken no measures to protect them since. Bought the replacements through lbs and ebay

  • So it looks like there's no general consensus.... Just comes down to how much you care about decals...

For me, the surly ones are a general no. But other brands im happy to keep.

Ask 10 people and you'll get 10 different answers.. what does your soul tell you......(about decals)...?

  • My soul told me: Ask LFGSS, they'll confuse you even more!
Jokes aside, I will either keep it worn and torn or just desticker entirely.
    Not placing new stickers.

  • Never thought about it.

  • Has anyone ridden the Pack Rat?

  • no1 is that mad

  • I have! Collected it today. I’m not really sure what I would compare it to but I absolutely love it. If you can live with the limitation (enhancement) of rim brakes then it seems nice.

  • you are mad!

    post a pic.

  • Ha! Quite possibly. Needs a larger front bag (on the way) and sorting front rack (needs either longer struts or a canti mount rack as it is currently a bit droopy). I’d also like to tidy up the dynamo cabling.

  • Damn that's good.

  • That a woods build?

  • It is. At first I just wanted some sweet sweet ultradynamico tyres, then I needed a wheelset to go with them (and they had just built a super nice set for a really smart 650b steamroller). The pack rat suggestion from Tom was probably the last bit to be decided. It’s a really nice shop, seems like they ‘get it’.

  • top @mk1mark bait!

  • Looks smart, shame the rack isn’t level?

  • Yep, it’s on the list to sort but I was too impatient to ride it yesterday!

  • Nice, recognised it from a build photo.

Yeah Tom's a great guy and runs a great shop. Shame the Randos been postponed. I've been to a few of their shop rides. Good bunch.

  • That is lovely!
Easy to fix the rack https://www.hubjub.co.uk/nitto-420mm-carrier-stays-2468-p.asp

    Which carridice is that?

  • Big time.

The tease image of that bike was what got me asking in the first place!

  • Just flatten the fork crown bracket, it's what I did on my cross check with nitto M18, levels it out nicely, and makes it a bit lower.

  • Lovely build Mr Crow. Might I enquire as to how much your packrat weighs unladen? A few years ago I ran a cross check which I could never quite work out if I loved or hated. I think it was the long and low geometry which I found unsuitable. How might your Packrat compare?
