Is it to make remounting the bike easier, as I can't see you'd be doing it for extra stability?
LESS FRONTAL AREA FOR T'AEROS.
Kidding. Yeah, easier remounts, bit more stability in fast corners and descents.

Not tempted by the lefty fork that Tim Johnson's been testing out? I'm generally averse to technology in a cross bike but the marketing videos are making it look a lot of fun:

Probably not so great when you transfer it from a Californian summer to this:

Not sure you can buy Lefty 'Oliver' as a part only. But converting an XLR wouldn't be impossible.
Trouble is they add about 800g, need their own hubs and have a service interval of about 50 hours.
Ace suspension though - love my 'Fatty' 80mm.
Actually a Fatty would be easier to convert and would look better.

Unbeatable in terms of mud clearance though. Surprised no one has produced a rigid lefty for cross useage. Suppose quick wheel swaps would be an issue too.
Cannondale did produce a cross fatty with a massive 25mm travel. Not sure that'd be worth the added maintenance and weight.

You can get a rigid lefty.
It's the lefty specific hub that's a deal breaker, ultimately.
Lefty Oliver has 30mm travel. It's probably enough to get you extra traction when cornering.
The cyclocross bikes that they shipped with those 30mm fatties were as rad as fuck. I wish they'd re-issue them with disc brakes. TAKE MY MONEY cannondale etc.

It's the Talbot interpretation of the Softride concept.

Is Talbot cx mk1 being rebuilt? -

Love the geometry.
Looks very well thought out.I can't decide whether or not to sell what remains of my 29er, as well as break down and sell the fixed. Then build a Cx. Ideally something like this.
Selling stuff is a pain though.

Beauty
That's not bad. My Straggler has 72mm drop and 175mm cranks and has been off-road* with no bother.

*About as techy as the average UK CX course.
